Things to Do at the Beach, Galactica Point, Friday Morning, Class #4

"Good morning," Jarod grinned, more focused than he'd been the week before. He was also wearing a swimsuit and his hair was damp. There was also a battery-operated CD player, currently playing The Beach Boys' greatest hits. "It's getting a bit warmer, so I thought we could try something a little different today. Today we'll be surfing. We have a collection of surfboards or bodyboards for you to choose from. Be careful with them, though, since they're on loan."

"Also," he said, gesturing towards a pile of equipment over on the sand, "we've got wetsuits available, if the water's too cold for you."

He grinned, possibly anticipating getting back out and doing some surfing for himself. "For those of you who don't want to surf, there's also some snorkeling equipment. All I ask is that you be careful, swim with a buddy, and snorkel in an area away from where people are surfing, so we don't have any accidents. Or there's always the get a tan and build sand castles option."

The CD player switched to Jan and Dean. "Go have fun!"

[[OOC: Posted for [livejournal.com profile] jarodpretends who has access issues. The player also won't be available to interact until after 6pm, Eastern. Please wait for OCD. You may begin.]]

Pippi decides to try surfing.

She also keeps her eye out for sharks. (Or at least keeps her eye out for that shark she and Walter ran into that time (http://static.flickr.com/51/136176175_34bdd492ba.jpg).

"Pippi-bra," Jude greeted her mellowly, swooping by. Of course Jude takes to surfing like a duck to water. It's like skateboarding, only with a bigger board and more wet. Unless you're trying to jump the fountain. Same basic lifestyle, though.

"Hey Jude!" Pippi says and she launches down the wave after him.

Archie put on a pair of the wetsuit trunks (http://www.bodyglove.com/products/product_buy.php?uselist=showcase&selected_prod=http%3A%2F%2Fbodyglove.mwrc.net%2Fxml%2Fen%2Fproduct.xml%3Fproduct_id%3D9584%26include_offline_products%3Dyes%26include_offline_retailers%3Dyes) and also decided to try surfing, because why the hell not? Actually, he opted for the bodyboard instead; it looked slightly less dangerous.

Parker's been waiting *weeks* for this. So of course she has to pick out her board, and then get into a wetsuit. Because it *is* still cold out there.

"Hey, Parker," Elizabeth smiled at her as she moved across to find her own board and wetsuit.

"Hey Liz." Parker grinned, and lowered her voice. "I brought it."

Elizabeth blinked. "Bought what?" she asked.

Parker and her mun facepalmed at herself. "Janet was going to mention it to you. I made a fur bikini for Wilderness Survival. We were going to see if we could get Jarod's reaction on film."

Re: Surfing

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Elizabeth giggled. "Um, yeah, I saw Janet in hers," she said, blushing slightly. "Mentioning it must have, er, slipped her mind? But my camera's in my bag!"

Parker waved her hand. "Later. After I've had a chance to surf. And the mun is online. Who knows, it might be an Art Show entry."

"Sure, no problem," Elizabeth nodded. She grinned. "I still need to figure out what I'll submit - if anything - for photography. Veronica suggested the cheerleading shots."

"Janet will *kill* you." Parker grinned. "You can hide behind me if you want."

Re: Surfing

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Elizabeth laughed. "I know - I told Veronica that. But there's still the part of me that's tempted."

"Hey, you have to do your best. And if your best is a picture of Janet-- well, she can hardly fault you for that, can she?"

Re: Surfing

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure she can," Elizabeth replied, still grinning. "I'll see what sort of mood she's in just before I make a decision."

Archie waved over at Parker from his bodyboard, which he was attempting to maneuver into position to catch a wave.

Re: Surfing

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker waved-- and promptly fell off her board. "Ack."

Re: Surfing

[identity profile] actingltcrumpet.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Are you all right?" Archie called over, just before a wave caught him from the side and set him to spitting out salt water.

Re: Surfing

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fine!" Parker surfaced and got onto the board again, then paddled over to Archie. "It's not as easy as I thought it would be. I can windsurf just fine! Sheesh."

Re: Surfing

[identity profile] actingltcrumpet.livejournal.com 2006-06-16 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Archie pulled himself up and sat astride his board, feeling oddly self-conscious in the wetsuit shorts. "This is why I opted to remain flat on my stomach."

"It's a good look for you," Parker commented. "I'm going to get this, though. It's not like it's deep enough here for either of us to really wipe out."
