Wilderness Survival - Week 4 | Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

Callisto had two lock boxes today, rather than just one. She pointed at the first box. "Shoes."

Then she pointed at the second box. "Now your clothes. Everything except your underwear."

After everyone had removed their clothing and placed it in the box, Callisto continued "If you spend a prolonged period of time in the wilderness, then it is more than likely whatever clothing you were wearing at the time will come under a considerable amount of wear and tear, especially if it wasn't designed for the environment you're in. The results can be… unpleasant to say the least.

"Luckily, it is possible to repair, and even make clothing from items found in the wilderness. Animal skins, some kinds of tree barks, vines, sinew. The possibilities, if not endless, are at least more varied than you'd think. Even luckier for you, I'm not making you hunt and forage for the raw materials.

"I think you can guess the rest of today's lesson. Use the materials I've provided to make garments to replace the ones you were wearing before. I know the equipment might be a primitive compared to what some of you may be used to, all bone needles and stone knives, but well, you'll just have to deal.

"Get to it," Callisto said. "And as an extra incentive, you're not getting your clothes back until next week, so make sure that you put a decent effort into the clothes."

"I suppose..." Alphonse blinked. It sounded like a good idea, he guessed, though he didn't know Callisto enough to really say. "Do I want to know what happened to upset her this much?"

Cameron shook his head. "Probably not. I'm just going to be glad she didn't make us hike through the woods in our underwear."

"At least I got to keep my clothes last time I was dumped in the middle of nowhere," Alphonse murmured.

Cameron raised an eyebrow. "Prank gone wrong?"

"No, more like my master had very... unique ways of teaching us."

"Sounds like it," Cameron agreed and looked over at Callisto again. "I guess it's all a matter of perspective."

"True," Alphonse said. "I just kinda... want my coat back, at least."

Remembering what Molly said earlier about Callisto keeping their clothes being his fault, Cameron sighed. "Yeah, I'll see if I can convince her. I don't think she could keep any of our stuff permanently anyway."

"I certainly hope so. Oh well, I won't protest it anyway; in the end it probably won't do much."

"Maybe not, but I'm gonna give it a go anyway," Cameron said as he got to his feet. "Wish me luck."

Alphonse gave a thumbs up. "Good luck!"
