Baking Workshop 6/12, Monday Morning

Piper smiled at the students as they arrive. It might have been a nervous smile. She pointed out today's assignment. "We're making snickerdoodles today. Chocolate ones even because chocolate makes everything better."

"Oh, and the first one of you to ask me if they're made of people gets detention," she continued, wondering if she could really abuse her power like that.

She hands the students a list of ingredients and instructions. "As usual, I'm around if you have questions or need help with anything."

"Try not to burn the classroom down," Piper added, remembering what happened last week.

"Just cook 'em longer," Willow said, waving it off. "Cookies are very forgiving."

"Even if they're laughing at us and drawing pictures of our humiliation?"

"All the more reason to leave them in the oven until they beg for mercy," Willow pointed out.

Anders started laughing and had to put the mixer down. "I seriously like the way you think."

Willow beamed proudly. "Thanks, Anders!"

"No problem, Willow." Anders gave her a bright smile and measured out the next batch of ingredients. There was probably too much flour; leveling-off wasn't a concept he'd grasped yet.

"Hear that, cookies?" he told the mixing bowl. "Give me any attitude and you're gonna be in a really hot place for a long time. And then you'd get burned and that would suck, because no one would want to eat you and appreciate your cookie goodness."

"Good job!" Willow said as she concentrated on mixing her own ingredients. "That ought to make them cry."

Anders poked his tongue out between his teeth as he started rolling the dough into balls. "Wouldn't they be more like sobbydoodles then?"

Re: Bake

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Weepydoodles?" Willow suggested. "Assuming they still want to persue their art career."

Anders started mixing the sugar and cinnamon together, then decided it didn't seem like enough and doubled the amount before he put the dough balls -- which didn't seem quite moist enough -- in to coat them. "I wouldn't want to make them cry that much."

"Personally I think they should cry a little," Willow said. She got to making her own dough balls. "First of all for mocking us. Second because I don't think any artist worth his or her salt has been known for giggling."

"Think if we bake them just long enough they'll learn their lesson about giggling?"

Re: Bake

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"They will if we poke them with forks," Willow pointed out.

Re: Bake

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders grinned as he put the extra-cinnamon-sugary dough balls onto a cookie sheet. "Well then, we'll fork 'em good."

Re: Bake

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"And if they don't do what we tell them?" Willow said. "Spoons."

Re: Bake

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The oven looked to be at the right temperature, so Anders popped the tray of weepydoodles snickerdoodles in and playfully brandished a fork at them before closing the door.

"Hopefully it won't come to that. Spoons hurt."

Re: Bake

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Although?" Willow said, "On the plus side it makes their bodies look like they've been covered with little smiles."

Re: Bake

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"And then we'd be right back to them laughing at us," Anders replied.

He tilted his head, considering. "But they'd be cute cookies. And very well disciplined."

Re: Bake

"Like East German Shepherds," Willow agreed.

Well, the reference was completely lost on Anders, but the mental image he got out of it was still pretty amusing. "I have no idea what that means," he said, even though he kind of really didn't want to admit to it.

"So far so good," he muttered, peering into the oven. "Nothing's blown up yet."

"Old political reference," Willow said. "Or new, depending on what time you're from."
