Detention - 06/10

The Danger Shop, when students enter, looks like a somewhat rough part of an older part of a town. There were a few old cars around, one of which was noticably red - noticably mainly due to the fact that everything was in black and white - including the kids themselves and if the Danger Shop can't do that, then *handwave* now it can - save for a few splashes of color.

Becky was leaning against a wall, a piece of chalk in her hand. Miho was, naturally, nowhere to be found. And she wouldn't be, until she felt the need to be seen. On the wall, in suprisingly neat writing, read:

Alec
Joxer
Walter Dornez
Tyler Durden
Gwynn Hood
Pippi Longstocking
Jamie Madrox
Conner McKnight
Cameron Mitchell
M. Parker
Peter Parker
Peter Pevensie
Nadia Santos
Dawn Summers
Dean Winchester
Sam Winchester

She crossed names off as students filed in.

[OOC: Naturally, OCD is coming up, yay! Also, getting this up now as I? Have not made with the sleepination yet, and neither has Miho's player. Will be responding from about noon EST onwards.

ETA: see availability in Rory's journal back, and my cat is fine. :) Thank you everyone for thinking of me.]

"Not that it will make very much of a difference in how you will speak, but are you a pirate or a privateer?"

"Privateer? I don't have any idea. I think I'm a pirate for today... I think."

"They are essentially the same thing." Pippi explained, "Except that a Privateer has a 'Letter of Mark' from a crown. They still go about pillaging and despoiling like the bandits of the sea that are pirates... Or as I should say today 'coursair' en Fran-say-ees. But the Mark gives them legitimacy and states that their activities are part of a war effort... So it makes it a little bit legal... Just a little bit."

"Let's stick with being a pirate."

Pippi is clearly impressed with Gwynn's decision not to take the "legal" option.

"Certainly." she smiles, "Now that you know what to call yourself, you should know some important vocabulary words... 'Avast', means 'stop'. 'Fore' and 'aft' means 'front' and 'back'... You'll want to go about calling people 'scalawag', 'me harty', and 'chum'. Instead of saying 'you', say 'ye'. And instead of saying 'I', say 'me'. Making verbs plural helps too... Like 'me thinks' or 'me likes'..."

Gwynn's eyes may be gleaming at the mischief this could cause.

"Me thinks this is going to be an odd day for the likes of you and me?"

"Mais oui!" Pippi said grinning back. "Tres bone Gwynn. You speak very good pirate! If you ever find yourself in doubt just think about the fellow in le radio. Barbossa. You know the fellow of which I speak oui?"

Gwynn nodded. "Me be doin some talkin like the Barbossa boy."
