Book Fair

Giles had gotten up at ack o'clock and actually had toted five boxes of books to the Fandom High Gym before he "cheated."

Everything was now set up neatly on tables, and separated by genre.

There was also coffee and hot water urns, bottled water, and a variety of pastries and breads set on a table near the register.

The First Annual Fandom High Book Fair was open for business.

[ooc: Hang on to your collective hats while I get the OCD threads up, please.

Threads are UP. Whew. I think you all know how this works. Go look for a book. Up to you whether you find it or not. No, there is no magic/new age section. Yes, Giles has planned it that way.

That's it! Go to town! Wait. No. Stay here and buy stuff...]

"Yes, probably," he replied with a wink. "But as an amusing exercise for the entire camp, it certainly worked."

Elizabeth snickered. "It did, yes," she admitted. "Do you know who you'll be serving detention with?"

"Our purpose was served then," Peter replied with a half-bow. "Too bad the Principal didn't agree. I almost had her convinced. Several of the other Stickbugs have it with me - Cam, Jamie, Tyler - and close to twenty other people according to the announcements.

"I admit I zoned out during the list this morning," Elizabeth said, grinning. "I didn't hear my name so that's pretty much all I needed to know!"

"They were awfully early, weren't they," Peter said. "It's rather as if the Principal thought we might possibly still be sleeping. Not that she'd ever want to wake us up, I'm sure." Peter grinned.

"All the announcements tend to be early. Which isn't nice," Elizabeth said. "I was in the shower for about half of them last semester!"

"Well, you can't be responsible for announcements you don't hear, right?" Peter replied with a grin.

"No, but it does mean that I'm surprised when something out of the ordinary happens which has been foretold in the morning announcements," Elizabeth explained, smiling.

"But the surprise is half the fun!" Peter said, still grinning.

"Not when it's the laundry machines holding your clothes hostage!" Elizabeth pointed out, laughing. "I ended up in a summer dress from last year. And I've grown a few inches since then, so, hmm, yeah." She made a motion with her free hand, indicating just how short her skirt had been.

Peter tactfully didn't mention that he rather thought the boys at the school would have appreciated that. "Well, yes, that one might want to know in advance, I suppose."

Elizabeth would definitely appreciate the tact. She snickered slightly. "Yeah, we soon figured it out considering it ended up being nearly a week long," she said.

"Should I assume quite a few shirtless days were declared by the end of the week? Fandom is rather British in making the best out of necessity like that," Peter said.

"Strangely enough, we were completely lacking in them," Elizabeth said, sighing over dramatically.

Peter frowned in mock-sympathy. "That surprises me greatly. I even feel as though I should apologize or such."

"I'm sure we'll have more such events during the summer and you can show how apologetic you are during them," Elizabeth nodded.

Peter laughed. "I don't know. The last time it occurred, the girls were rather discouraging about eight shirtless Stickbugs. It may have scarred me for life."

Re: Non-Fiction--History

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-06-10 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"A different group of girls might be more appreciative?" Elizabeth suggested, grinning.

"Or perhaps we shouldn't involve singing and dawn," Peter replied with a wink.

Elizabeth bowed her head, shaking with silent laughter. "That would also be a very good start," she agreed.
