Book Fair

Giles had gotten up at ack o'clock and actually had toted five boxes of books to the Fandom High Gym before he "cheated."

Everything was now set up neatly on tables, and separated by genre.

There was also coffee and hot water urns, bottled water, and a variety of pastries and breads set on a table near the register.

The First Annual Fandom High Book Fair was open for business.

Threads are UP. Whew. I think you all know how this works. Go look for a book. Up to you whether you find it or not. No, there is no magic/new age section. Yes, Giles has planned it that way.

"She gonna be okay?" Bel asked. "She was being totally freaky. Asked me if I knew she wouldn't hurt me unless I deserved it."

"She going to be fine," Isabel assured him. She frowned, considering what had happened when she was in Parker's head she pretty certain Parker had visualized something similar happening to Bel at some point during the day.

A frog chose that moment to hop across her foot. Isabel sighed, "As you can see there's some weird Fandom crap happening. What happened to Parker was part of that. But it's going to be taken care of."

"So, just another day in Fandom then?" Bel said. "Is Callisto being freaky the same thing?"

"Pretty much." Isabel frowned, trying to remember if she'd seen Cal at the meeting. "I think so."

[RL calls. Pick it up later? Around 8:30ish?]

"Huh," Bel said. "Well, hope it works out. So how's life otherwise?"

[Sure, I'll be around. :) ]

"Life is good," Isabel smiled thinking of kitten therapy and the time she'd spent on the beach the last two days. "Life is very, very good."

"Cool," Bel said. "Any reason why?"

"Good friends," she said ducking her head down. "Fun workshops, a nice guy."

"That's great," Bel said with a smile. "Glad to hear it."

"Thanks," Isabel smiled. "But would it be really strange if I said I keep waiting for something really bad to happen?"

"Around this place you never know," Bel said. "But I got your back."

"Thanks," Isabel said sincerly. "That means a lot. So how are things with you? What happened last week? And I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you earlier."

Bel shrugged. "Could be better," he said. "My girlfriend apparently thinks I'm cheating on her with Veronica."

Isabel blinked.

"Yeah, that was about my reaction, too," Bel said.

"Why?" she asked. "That just doesn't make sense."

"I guess because the radio was insinuating stuff," Bel said, running his hand through his hair with a sigh. "And I've been, uh, talking to Veronica a lot about some stuff that I haven't told Phoebe about."

"Suddenly it makes more sense. Although Phoebe should know better then to take them seriously," Isabel said firmly. "Anything I can help with?"

"What kind of book is a good present to say 'I'm not cheating on you, I'm just trying to work some stuff out'?" Bel said with a weak smile.

"I don't know that there's actually a book for that," Isabel said, raising her eyebrow. "Have you tried talking to her?"

"I...can't," Bel said. "Not about everything."

"Why not? Or is this a conversation that should be held someplace that's not the middle of a crowd?"

Bel glanced around. "Yeah, not the best of places," he said with a little laugh.

Isabel nodded, "You know where I live. You're welcome to stop by."

"Thanks," Bel said. "Maybe I'll do that."
