Creative Writing [Wednesday, Period Two]

"Welcome back, everyone!" No, neither Isabela nor Aphra would be explaining or acknowledging their absence last week.

"Today we'll be doing some flash writing exercises," Aphra said. "Because sometimes the best way to get really creative is to put yourself in a situation where you can't over think things."

Isabela waved an arm in the direction of what could only be described as an oversized slot machine. "You can get a prompt by pulling the handle," she explained. "Then you'll have fifteen minutes to write something inspired by that prompt, then we'll rinse and repeat for the rest of the class."

To be fair, classes being canceled because the teachers just didn't show up was a pretty common thing when I was in college.

DESCRIBE THE SECRET WISH OF A NERDY WEASEL WHO RIDES A GIANT SLOTH TO WORK

What does nerdy mean? Caleb thought, already overthinking it. At least he knew what a sloth was. He shrugged and put pen to paper.

Abigail the Weasel didn't actually like her job at the salt factory. In fact she hated salt. She'd rather work at the pepper mill on the other side of the mountain. She loved pepper. She love the taste and she loved the way it made the bosses sneeze when you threw it in their faces. She'd even named her sloth Pepper.

"If only I could work in the Pepper Mill instead, Pepper." she confided to her mounth.

"My name is Cilantro." the Sloth reminded her.
