Archery Workshop #3, 6/6, Danger Shop, Afternoon

The Danger Shop was set up much like it had been the week before: outdoors, targets, bows, quivers, except this time the arrows have the more traditional points on them, as opposed to suction cups. There is no blackboard, as Miho is being optimistic and hopes her students are smart enough to figure out what to do. The sign-in sheet is on a folding table near the entrance.

Miho prowls up and down the line of students, a pad of detention slips and a pen in hand and a tiny, very scary smile on her face. She was initially going to give the whole class detention just for the heck of it, but Goldie said she didn't think teachers were allowed to do that.

Bel put on his "Bitch, please" face. "Do I look like someone who acts as bait?" he said. His tone was still more friendly than growly.

"If you looked like bait, you wouldn't actually be good bait would you?" Dean pointed out, not in the least bit phased.

"True enough," Bel said. Remembering his conversation with Dawn, he said, "I'm actually better bait than you might think."

Dean raised an inquisitive eyebrow. "Oh?"

Bel chuckled. "Had a talk with Dawn while we were stuck in detention," he said. "I can sense other demons, but they can sense me. So she had the idea of using me as bait to lure other demons. Trouble is if it got out that I was still alive, there might be more demons after me than anyone can handle."

"Not exactly waiting to welcome you with open arms like the prodigal son, huh?" Dean asked wryly.

"Had to make a choice," Bel said. "Be a good little demon and kill my girlfriend and her sisters, not to mention any other witch at the school, or betray the Source. If they didn't think I was dead there'd be a price on my head like you wouldn't believe."

"'The Source'?" Dean echoed, thinking this might be a good chance to get some demon intel. "Is that like what, the demon mafia?"

"The Source of All Evil," Bel said. "He rules the Underworld. He's the most powerful demon there is. His 'mafia,' I guess that would be the Brotherhood of the Thorn."

Definitely an opportunity to get demon intel. Which he would have figured Bel out for sooner if he hadn't been so fixated on thinking he should be killed. "Would you mind seriously if I pumped you for information sometime?"

~~Dirty?~~ Bel had a brief moment of hesitation. Years of loyalty to the Underworld were hard to shake, and the betrayals weren't seeming to get any easier. But if sharing information meant saving innocents -- or better yet, saving Phoebe -- then he'd do it. "Yeah," he said. "You can do that, I don't mind."

Dean hadn't missed the hesitation, but the final answer was what he wanted so he didn't comment on it. "Great. I'll look you up sometime when we're not shooting pointy things at nondemonic targets."

Bel nodded. "Works for me. Who knows, maybe I'll get to see you shooting pointy things at demonic targets some day," he said. He paused, then grinned. "Not me, though."

"Who knows?" Dean grinned back. "I'm sure I can find something else demonic to use for target practice."
