Archery Workshop #3, 6/6, Danger Shop, Afternoon

The Danger Shop was set up much like it had been the week before: outdoors, targets, bows, quivers, except this time the arrows have the more traditional points on them, as opposed to suction cups. There is no blackboard, as Miho is being optimistic and hopes her students are smart enough to figure out what to do. The sign-in sheet is on a folding table near the entrance.

Miho prowls up and down the line of students, a pad of detention slips and a pen in hand and a tiny, very scary smile on her face. She was initially going to give the whole class detention just for the heck of it, but Goldie said she didn't think teachers were allowed to do that.

Dawn started giggling and eventually had to lower her arrow so she didn't shoot someone by accident.

Buffy grinned back. "What?"

"You." It occurred to her she'd never seen Buffy have fun while training. "You actually seem to like it."

"Well, yeah." Buffy looked puzzled for a moment, then held up an arrow and grinned. "Sharp, pointy, flying fatality! Wooosh!"

More giggling. "God, you're all kinds of bloodthirsty."

"Nooooo..." Buffy attempted to look innocent. "Just because I'm sometimes shooting things and hitting ~~Alec~~ things and staking things, doesn't mean I really like it a lot." She pulled the arrow back and let it fly. "...Well. Maybe a little."

"Favorite weapon?" Dawn asked, releasing her own arrow and frowning as she missed the heart again. "I mean, you're on a desert island, surrounded by vampires and demons, and you only get one. Which do you pick?"

"Stake," Buffy decide after thinking about it. "'Cause eventually I'd run out arrows, and blades would become dull, but pointy stakes are always pointy and I'm generally holding them."

Dawn grinned a bit wickedly, not really surprised by Buffy's answer. "Okay, so boys. Who's more your type? Blonde, kinda short and nerdy, or tall, dark, and broody? Both guys are built, although the blonde guy's more compact and the dark guy's bulkier. Both are utterly devoted."

Hey, there was serious money riding on this back home. She'd be able to buy herself a new wardrobe.

That one was trickier. "Do they have to be nerdy and broody? Can't they be fun and possibly with a car?"

Dawn snorted. Hey, they were Buffy's choices. "Occasionally fun? And I think they both have cars, though I'm not sure and they're probably black."

Buffy gave her a slightly suspicious look. "These are hypothetical guys, right?"

"Absolutely 100 percent hypothetical," Dawn nodded innocently as she concentrated on the correct tension to put on the bowstring as she pulled it back. "I mean, who'd date them both?"

Buffy giggled at that. "True." She glanced towards Sam. "Well, I'm totally in favour of tall and dark..."

Dawn glanced over too. "Uh huh..."

"So I have to go with that," Buffy decided. "Even if hypothetical man should totally lighten up." She fired off a few more arrows, making a very wobbly sort of heart in the middle of her target. "What about you?"

Dawn was so putting her money in the Angel pot when she got home. She heard Buffy's question and released the arrow, missing the target completely. "What about me what?"

Buffy was watching Dawn's arrow fly. "I think you hit a teal deer in the distance." She turned back to Dawn. "What? Oh. Which is your type? Tall and dark and geeky, or shorter and blonder and fun?"

She had a feeling that wasn't exactly what Dawn had said, but what the hell. Hypothetical boys could be anything, right?

Dawn blinked. "Um, I don't really have a type yet. Dean's my first boyfriend."

Buffy blinked back. "Really?"

"Yep," Dawn said, trying very, very hard not to blame this Buffy for that. "There were...issues."

"Huh. I think I had my first boyfriend in kindergarden. But then he stole my scrunchie and threw it in the toilet, and then I kicked him in the shin, which he so deserved, the little monster." Buffy hit the target straight on through the heart this time. "It had strawberries on, damnit."

"Strawberries are very important," Dawn said very carefully as she bent to get another arrow.

Dawn groaned, but didn't argue. She nodded politely at Miho and slid the slip into her pocket.
