Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, Saturday, All Day
So, it wasn't Fall yet by a long shot. The temperatures were still high, the leaves were still green, and the calendar still said August. But the calendar of consumerism didn't care about reality and thus, the welcome picnic was decorated for fall. The tables were covered in reds, oranges, and yellows, there was apple cider in the punch bowls and, of course, if the food on the table could come in pumpkin spice form, it was here in pumpkin spice form.
Enjoy your basic seasonal welcome picnic, everyone!

Re: Mingle Time
Hey, Erasmus, were continuous glucose monitors another thing banned by Fairy Law? Or did your magic short them out? Because you should probably have one of those, my friend.
"My momma makes the best sweet tea." Everyone's momma made the best sweet tea. "But she's not here, and I'm sure yours is great! I'm Erasmus," he thought to add. "I'm new."
Re: Mingle Time
Well, okay, she probably still wouldn't make the best sweet tea, because she had been a djinn and their relationship with human food was touristy at best.
"Hey, Erasmus, I'm Arden," she said, handing over a cup that was full to brimming of liquid sugar that had once waved at a teabag or two. "I'd shake, but I think you need that more than some politeness we can put off until a bit later," she added with a laugh. "Offered freely."
Yeah, she was no longer as nervy about that kind of thing these days, but who knew where any of the new folks were from? Probably not anywhere like she was used to, but it didn't hurt to be safe. She also took a sip from her glass first. "I'm from the Triangle in North Carolina, you?"
Re: Mingle Time
"Thank you," Erasmus said as he took the cup. "It's been hours since I saw sweet tea. I couldn't find any at the airport!" He didn't comment on her offer to shake. People kept doing that. It was weird.
He took a life-restoring sip of tea. "That's the good stuff," he said approvingly, and then answered Arden's question. "I'm from southern Mississippi. Pascagoula," he added for precision's sake. "The Triangle, is that
what the rest of us calllike Raleigh-Durham?"Obviously Arden's dad would have made the sweet tea. He might have been an elf, but he was a Southern elf.
Re: Mingle Time
"Exactly!" Arden said. "I mean, y'all call it wrong, but at least you know what I was talking about. Nobody else here had any clue. Or even Raleigh. I just started sticking with North Carolina and calling it good. Though, it is sorta unfair to call folks out for that when, like, half the school is from other times or places that aren't Earth." She glanced at him. "Have you gotten the low down on the school and how most people are...different?"
Re: Mingle Time
He was beginning to have a dawning suspicion one of his parents had, though, and it wasn't Lydia Boone.
