"Today we're headed to Spain," Lana announced. Look, sue her, she was more excited for Earth markets than ones back home.

"The Mercat Central de Valencia," she pronounced carefully "to be specific. It's been around for over a hundred years, and has all sorts of food available, plus perfumes and some other non-food things." But let's face it, the food was fun.

"It's slightly cooler there than here, but not by much, so we should be fine. And we probably won't be the only tourists, so they're used to it. Have fun!"

Jack snorted. "There's not much anyone can do, besides be support if he asks for it," he said. "It's mostly just a lot of delayed processing about his brother who passed away... fifteen years ago? Long story."

Also not his story to tell.

"So how've you been?"

"I've been well," Lana said. "Busy. Trying to decide if I should teach next semester or if we're going to have a Mandalorian war on our hands."

Yes, possibly a strange definition of 'well'.

"Only among themselves," Lana said. She sighed. "Of course there's been some collateral damage, but they seem fairly determined to kill each other rather than anyone else. Still, you can see why I might be a bit busy back home."

"Sure, you say that now, and in three months they suddenly look around and realize there are better targets and join forces," Jack grumbled.

"I won't say anything's impossible, but I doubt it," Lana said. "This is apparently both a huge philosophical difference and a personal vendetta." She scowled. "Right now we're backing the current Mandalore, who's at least slightly reasonable and has the backing of most of the clans. You probably know how difficult it is to get spies in a Mandalorian camp, though, even if we could find them."

"You'd have to single out a Mandalorian who can't stand the infighting and recruit them," Jack said. "That's the only way."

Lana nodded. "The ones I already know are too obviously the Mandalore's people. I've been sending people out to make inquiries."

She looked a little uncharacteristically nervous. "Speaking of inquiries, if I were to want to spend more time in New York, at what point would it pay to look into a rental instead of hotel?"

"I mean, rent in New York is pretty high," he said cautiously, "So it depends on how much money you have to spare. Though I guess you could always get a short stay and see how you like it."

Did she mean...?

"But probably if you're staying more than a month...?"

Lana shrugged. "I'm not teaching next semester; there's too much chance I'll forget to post need to run off with little notice. And I do like helping out and visiting, but it seems rude to take over your sofa too often."

"Well, you know," he said, casually rubbing the back of his head. "If you need help going through Craigslist, we're here for you."

Lana eyed him skeptically. "Is Craigslist reliable? I've heard it used mostly as a joke."

Jack shrugged. "If you want something cheap and you have the time to suss out the scams," he said. "Otherwise there's StreetEasy now, I think."

Lana nodded, making a mental note of it. "And what area am I looking in?"

One more shrug. "Brooklyn's cheaper," he said. "Dane and me managed to snag a place in probably the cheapest area of downtown, but I can't promise you there'll be anything. The rest, it depends on your budget and what you want out of a place. More urban, more green, that kind of thing."
