Callisto pointed to the box. "Put your shoes in there and take a handout."

"Knowing how to make fire is one of the most important wilderness survival skills possible. Without it, you can't keep warm, cook, or use it to keep predators away from your camp."

"For today's exercise you'll will be split into two groups, one group will start a fire using a bow drill, and the other with flint and steel. You don't get to go home until you have a fire."

Callisto waited until the students had split into their groups, before speaking again.

"Another useful survival skill is the ability to create tools from scratch, even more important is the ability to figure out how to make the best use of the tools available." Callisto held up a pointed stick. "If you want your shoes back, I want a different use for a pointy stick from each of you at the end of class."

Cameron signed in late, it was possible that the reason he was late was because he was arguing with a gnome that seemed to be following around.

"I really don't think gnomes are allowed in class," he told it as he removed his boots.

The gnome didn't answer and swayed back and forth on its heels. Sighing, Cameron took his boots off and handed them to Callisto. The gnome followed him as he made his way to his group.
