"Welcome to our last class of the term," Lana said. Was she overly cheerful today? Maybe.

"Today we're going to a planet that's a fairly popular tourist spot. When it's not at war, anyway. There was a big issue with the succession a few years ago, though they seem to have figured it out. Welcome to Alderaan!"

She led them through the portal. They were at a large estate with a light dusting of snow and some very impressive mountains. "It's a monarchy with a complex system of nobility, but it's got some really lovely scenery. And we'll get to see it from thranta back!

There were a number of large winged creatures ready for boarding.

"If you don't want to do that, you can stay here and have tea and pastries, or visit the killiks next door. They're an insectoid species that may actually be the native species here. They don't generally speak Basic, but they have added humans to their hive mind that do. Just don't agree to be a Joiner with them yourself; it would be fairly awkward to live on Earth like that."

She personally was going to take a thranta.

Jack was not going to be able to do this like a tourist, no.

Jack... was going to park his ass somewhere in the middle of the estate, and he was going to stare at the mountains, and he wasn't going to say very much for a while.

Ahahaha like there was any question of whether Arden was going to stay on the ground, versus being able to fly.

The real question was whether or not they were going to get her to come back down.

"You think we can steal back here over the break?" he asked. Casually. Yep. "With some friends?" Or a friend. Some kind of friend. Yep.

"Of course." Lana was surprised, but perfectly willing. "I usually spend the breaks on Odessen anyway, and Alderaan's an easy trip." She waved at the stronghold estate. "This is Nox's, and he rarely uses it these days. I think it sleeps about forty without even bumping into each other," she added wryly.

"Yeah," he said, looking at the estate. "I think if we decide to crash over, I'll get a hotel, but thanks."

Lana shrugged. "It's up to you." She smiled. "Should I make sure the Hawk is fueled?"

And Jack's eyes drifted to the thrantas. "Yeah," he said again. "I'm not driving anyone on an overgrown, dumb flying fish, thanks. Never did like thrantas."

Lana laughed. "They're traditional, though I'll admit a shuttle is more comfortable. I'll make sure it's ready. And with a modern transponder. Would you rather be an Alliance cargo hauler or unaffiliated?"

"We've got treaties with both the Republic and the Empire, so theoretically nobody here should be shooting an Alliance ship," Lana said. "But if you decide to go anywhere else, I can't make promises."

Lana nodded, and like the good friend she was, she didn't coo at him. "Are you dropping off Trent and Jill on Odessen?"
