Galactic Tourism, 2nd period

Today when they met at Portalocity, Lana was dressed in her Earth clothes, though for previous classes it had been her own galaxy's. She was also wearing a very bright blue scarf. And if you looked close enough to notice, blue contact lenses.

"Today we're headed to the capitol world of the Galactic Republic," she announced. "It's known as Coruscant. The entire planet is one city thousands of levels deep. We'll be heading to a marketplace, since shopping seems to be popular. You can find goods from hundreds of worlds here. A few words of caution: before buying anything, make sure it's safe for humans and for your own species if you're not human." She felt she'd better cover all bases. "Do not go anywhere that isn't public. Do not wander far from the market. Do not, under any circumstances, go down more than two levels."

She gestured at her scarf. "I should be easy to spot. If you need anything or anybody gives you trouble, find me."

With that, she led them into a bustling city square where stalls and shops filled a wide plasteel and synthcrete walkway. If you looked over the side, you would see very far down. Craft large and small zoomed in sketchily-defined lanes above, around, and below. People of all species bartered and bickered for goods.

Don't worry, there probably wouldn't be any blasters or lightsabers pulled.

Probably.

Summer, of course, knew that Coruscant would come up eventually, and Coruscant would always make her feel a certain way. The kind of way that made even shopping seem a little unfulfilling. And so even if Lana suggested that they shouldn't wander off too much, she was going to wander a bit. She'd lived here for a good chuck of time, had a successful business here, ended up blowing up a small section of it as a parting gift. It made her feel comfortable being back here (even if it wasn't the same one, but even the differences between this Coruscant and her Coruscant were interesting) and wistful and wondering if what she should really be doing is looking into some real estate listings, even if just for funsies...

But, you know, there was a lot of weight here for her, too, so probably not, but, hey. Who knew.

And somewhere along the line, she'd be crossing streams with another former Coruscanti. Jack shot her a wry smile, and gave her a bit of a shrug as he wandered the street.

Summer was not at all surprised to see that other former Coruscanti doing pretty much the same thing she was, and when she caught his smile, she returned it just as wryly and shrugged along with him.

"Heading anywhere in particular?" she asked. They'd sort of already done the whole 'moody in Coruscant' thing together before, and she didn't figure they'd need to revisit that again, especially not when she had sangria night tonight with Rey (she was going to sleep in so. hard. tomorrow morning omg), but she figured at least a little bit more of a 'I feel ya, bro' gesture might be in order.

"Nah, not really. I tried to steer Lana away from anywhere I'd know," Jack said, with an easy shrug. "I'm just drifting. You?"

"Yeah," Summer agreed with a nod. "Same. The rebellious side of me wants to go down specifically three levels," she notched a faint grin at him, "just because she told us not to."

"I mean, it'd be a great way to liven up an afternoon with a speeder chase or a blaster fight," Jack mused. "I wonder if the same syndicates are still down there that were there back in my time..."

"Well, this place hasn't changed one bit," Jack muttered.

Did he just shrug his jacket on a little further? Hunch a little more? Something about being here made him twitch.

"I have a bunch of gigs back in New York," Jack said, with an idle shrug. "Could use a friend to help us handle some of the logistics. You'll get free food out of the bargain if you help out?"

"Better," Jack decided. He looked past her at the skyline. "Though I doubt I'll be able to find something in New York that's more disgusing than Coruscanti diner food."

Short pause.

"Have you ever been to a diner?"

"It'll put some hair on your chest," Jack said, dryly. "No, it's not positive. It's an ambiance. The desperation of a post-shift snack when all your bones hurt and all you want is something with enough grease to kill a rancor."
