Paintball, Tuesday (5/20)

Your teachers were in regular paintball gear today (Tony had so many notes about improvements to the camo suit) and were standing in front of the equipment shed waiting as the rest of the class arrived.

"So last week went well," Steve said, perhaps a trifle optimistically.

"But this week we're going to bring things back down to the basics," Tony said, double checking the equipment. "No powers, limited ammo. But there are scattered caches with more if you can find them."

"They're very well hidden," Steve confirmed. So well hidden only half of them might even exist! What, they knew you people.

"So, let's see what you've got," Tony, suggested, fully unaware of the imminent betrayal.

Definitely ignore the grin on your husband's face, Tony.

Quinn heard the words "hidden caches" and interpreted them as "traps". So she would not be hunting those down, no.

She was going to duck into the trees again as soon as play started, to find a spot to hide and maybe pick people off as they went by.

Arden found two caches, not even trying! But she wasn't going to argue against her good favor. This should last her through the end of class, bwahahaha!

Look, Cal could avoid actively using his powers, but he couldn't just turn the Force off. (Actually, he probably could, but why would he want to?) He didn't go searching for a cache, he just, you know, didn't ignore when he happened to stumble over one. If he used the extra ammo to pick people off that were getting close to Arden, that was a selfless cause and definitely not him narrowing the field for his own amusement.

"You're looking good out there!" he called in the direction he'd last spotted her.

"I look good everywhere!" she called back, because, yup! This was what they were like now.

Said comment was, of course, accompanied by a shot of paint, more to buy her time to move somewhere else than because she expected to hit him.

With that shot, anyway.

"Not lookin' bad yourself."

"Of course you always look good. You're very distracting," he said. "I hope I didn't get too close to you with my other shots."

"Oh don't worry," Arden said, using a bit of ventriloquism to make it sound like her voice was coming from somewhere else. Would it trick a cheaty Force-user? Probably not, but who knew? Weirder things had happened. "You didn't even come close."

Did it fool him? No. Did he look in the other direction anyway to be a good boyfriend? Yes!

"I have to be very careful about where I aim. This is all just for fun, and I don't want you to be mad when you take me out this week. I'm thinking pizza."

And was she taking that opportunity to try to shoot at him like a good girlfriend? Of course! He'd be disappointed if she didn't!

"When I take you...? You mean like a consolation dinner for knocking you out of the top spot?"

He would absolutely be disappointed if she didn't challenge him, but she did, because she was amazing.

"No, when you take me out after I take you out," he said, peeking out from cover and taking a shot at her. "But I'm proud of you for getting this far!"

"Take you out? Can do!" Arden said, hopping up to take a shot of her own. The paintball left her gun, aimed perfectly at Cal--

--But his shot hit her before hers could close the distance, taking her out of the game.

She clutched her chest and dropped with a very dramatic gurgle.

Cal let out a cackle and ran to Arden's side, kneeling down beside her. "You fought valiantly, my love. I'll never forget you," he said with equal drama.

She beamed at the 'my love' comment before quickly remembering that, right, she was a sad and tragic corpse. Or, well, was close to one. "Don't...let...Skywalker...win..." she croaked out before expiring in his arms.

Cal let out a fake cry and pulled Arden close, so he could whisper to her, "Two weeks in a row. This is the best summer ever!"

Arden's beautiful and amazing, truly Oscar-winning performance was utterly destroyed by how she started cracking up in his arms.

Stark was in an odd sort of headspace today. Maybe a little too distracted to perform well at paintball but he was going to give it a shot anyway. Maybe even multiple shots!

He went looking for cover immediately. That might last a few minutes? Maybe. Hopefully.
