Monday afternoon Elle waits at the salon for her eight diamonds in the rough. Bruiser is with her today, peeking his head out of the bag. Once everyone is assembled, Ell gives out a ~~handwavey~~ handout on salon etiquette and explains the day.

"Class, today we are going to experience the joy of the salon. There is nothing more important to your image than your body, and when your skin and hair and nails are healthy and beautiful it's kind of like having a canvas all ready to paint your masterpiece. So today we're going to go in here, you're all getting your hair done, everyone gets a manicure...even the boys. Especially the boys. Never underestimate the power of good cuticles. You'll also be getting pedicures and I promise, your feet will have never been so happy!"

Wash, cut, color and style.

Buffy sank down in a chair and looked utterly and completely blissful as she discussed haircut and styling with Netta the Hairdresser. "...Oh, you think so? Well, I don't know, what about this girl, Renee? Oh! Or Charlize?" They continued discussing movie star hair styles until they agreed, and then Buffy leaned back and relaxed and looked around to see how her classmates were doing.

Grinning, James took his seat in one of the chairs and waited patiently to be primped at.

He and Jessie had run a salon once. And it was a booming success, until those twerps came along and questioned their infalliable fashion sense. The nerve.

He was pretty certain that today, he was in the mood for curls.

Hey, Sawyer never passed up an opportunity to look spiffy. He had the woman trim his hair a tad and put a bit of highlights in it, as it was summer and that was totally acceptable.

Wash, yes, cut, yes, style, yes. Colour? Not so much. Xander decided to stick with brown hair, instead of the highlights the hairdresser suggested.

Fry got a kinda scary looking barber guy. "Just a little off the top," he said warily. Those scissors looked preeeetty sharp.

A while later, Fry found himself with clean hair (amazing for him), slightly trimmed and flattened down over his head. It made his head look a weird shape. Five minutes after the barber guy left, his hair sprung back into normal place.

Gwynn... was not so sure what she was supposed to be doing.

She followed the other examples and sat in a chair until a nice looking woman beckoned her to take a seat in another chair. The woman made a few suggestions and Gwynn nodded, trying to relax.

River had a vague memory of looking tidy on occasion as a girl. She'd never liked it, so she was happy to hear the hairdresser suggest a messier hairstyle.

There's a range of colors of polish, or you can just have them buffed.

Uh yeah. Sawyer just got them buffed.

"Oooh, so many colours!" Buffy beamed happily, and tried to decide which to choose.

James was going to go all the way today. He didn't mind feeling pretty, oh so pretty, of course!

So he decided that bright red polish--to match the 'R' on his uniform--was the only way to go!

No, Xander was not going to get his nails painted. ~~There wasn't any green!~~

"Oww careful, I have sensitive nails. Sensitive manly nails."

The same lady who worked on Gwynn's hair was happy to help suggest polish colours and explained to Gwynn what they were for.

Gwynn ended up getting a complete manicure and had pretty pale peach polish on her nails.

"I like green," River told the lady in front of her, who glanced sadly at River's chewed-on nails.

Pedicures are love.

Er. Think manly. Think manly. But he had to admit, that felt really good.

Buffy just leaned back with a happy sigh and enjoyed. Best class ever!

"I don't think you wanna go down there." The silent barber waved his hands around to tell Fry to take his shoes off, but when he did and the smell hit the silent barber's nostrils, he gagged, turned green and begged him to put the shoes back on.

Fry complied.

Why did they paint her toenails?

River liked walking barefoot, and the green toenails would look great on the dancefloor.

Scream if you need me. Odds are 50/50 I'll be on.
