Class was back in the gym this week, and you were all pretty smart, so Gladio figured you'd have a pretty good idea of what was in store for you this week. But, in case you weren't, the basketball tucked under his arm should get you there before his words brought it around to confirmation.

"So last week," he reminded them, "we got to see a basketball game in action, and while we don't really have the numbers to pull off much of a basketball game, we can take some time to learn a little bit about some of the techniques and skills put to use in the sport to improve our understanding and ability to play it, and I actually find that a lot of these skills can also be put to use into things like combat, which is always a point of interest for me. In basketball, you need to be quick on your feet, have good hand-eye coordination, and be constantly aware of your surroundings. You also need precise style and a mindful target on your goals.

"We're going to be covering a few different basketball fundamentals today: mostly dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, lay-ups, and rebounding. And once we feel we're pretty comfortable with those, you can either practice them on your own for a bit, work a little with another student, or even pair up and play a game of....well, we called it Chocobo back home, but I guess here, it's just Horse, which I admit, makes for a much faster game! But we'll get into that in a bit. First, we gotta figure out what we're doing in the first place."

Gladio definitely expects there to be plenty of runaway basketballs as everyone starts to figure out the basic fundamentals as he teaches them, unless there's a surprise sudden basketball star here among their ranks.

Since all of Eleanor's classes were on Thursday and she didn't work until Friday, she'd only just gotten back to the island from her trip home yesterday afternoon, and she was still tired from....well, the work she had to do was actually the least exhausting part of it. Dealing with Luma and trying to get through to Rhys and having to keep her grandfather settled and her aunt Margaret's--

Okay, it was entirely her family. It had been exhausting dealing with her family, and she was still tired from all of it, with that additional twang of guilt for leaving again, and so she did not have very high hopes for how this basketball thing was going to work out for her, but she'd try, at least.

And now you've got the rest of the class to hone those skills, practice with a partner, or join up for a game of Horse! Or whatever other animal you want to use as a guideline for how many points to score as a winner!

Who is actually fighting the urge to go and dunk on all y'all right now.

Nell was surprisingly decent with basketball. Or maybe not that surprisingly given that she had good hand eye coordination and was fairly strong. Once she got the hang of it she wasn't bad at all.

"Still not my favorite," she said to Gladio. "But it was fun."

Yeah, Nell picked up on a lot of these shirts well enough that Gladio wasn't surprised at all, especially with how she kept up at the gym and everything.

"And now," he said with a grin, "you'll probably never even have to play it again unless you take another class like this. But if you do, you'll be ready."

He wouldn't discount them having to one day having to save the day with a dramatic basketball game against aliens or something around here.

"But good. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Although maybe that means I'm going way too easy on you guys."

"Oh, I don't know," Nell said with a cheeky grin. "I enjoy it when I get beat up by the warrior women on a regular basis, so you might not want to judge difficulty by me."

"Well, I mean," said Gladio with a bit of a laugh, "sure, but come on." He lifted a brow at her. "Who wouldn't?"

Nell laughed delightedly. "Well, most of the other students for starters."

"Spunds like a them problem," Gladio said, his grin even broader now for the fact that his quip managed to pull that laugh out of Nell. "Like maybe they either need to get better or they need to start getting used to taking those hits."

Nell grinned. "Guess it is. Plus, I wouldn't like everyone all up in there with me anyway. I like it being kind of special."

Actually, Gladio is not the best dunker in the Chocobro team. That would be Noctis, because he just teleports to the hoop, and then they spend the rest of the game debating if that's cheating or not.
