Friendship is Magic!, Tuesday, February 4, 2025

Today's classroom was filled embroidery floss and plastic beads. "Friendship bracelets," Anakin intoned, looking long-suffering.

"They show up throughout most cultures that have any kind of widespread fibrecraft," Ahsoka's fingers worked as she spoke, threading beads onto cord and knotting it "A symbolic gift not because of how valuable the materials are, because they're usually not, but because of the thought and effort put in."

"It's not that much effort," Anakin muttered.

"They're also most often made by younglings still practising their fine motor skills," Ahsoka added, as, for no reason at all, her bracelet started resembling her old Padawan braid.

"And when they are made by younglings, it's not appropriate to point out the flaws in their handiwork," Anakin added.

"Just to accept them gracefully."

"You, however, are not younglings, so please put some effort into your bracelets," Anakin said. "I have numerous examples that my daughter made for you to learn from."

Don't ask why Anakin is weirdly good at braiding.

Charlie proceeded to make a boatload of friendship bracelets. A few she actually made entirely by hand, but with most she used a little bit of charm to help make things go smoothly.

Rey would not consider herself crafty, but she found this kind of fun. Maybe she liked putting together color combinations?

Stark was happy to sit and make bracelets. It kept his hands busy and that helped keep him from overthinking as he was prone to doing.

Plus, this way he had things to gift people. That was always nice.

Oh, maaaan, Graham was locked in and focused, because he had so many friendship bracelets he wanted to make!

But he was paying extra attention to the one he was making for Acorn, because that man knew his threads!

Charlie had a very bright bracelet with little swords on it for Graham. "Also," she said, handing him a MUCH larger bracelet. "And we can't leave out Triumph!"

His was brown with green leaves.

Belle did not consider herself particularly crafty, as a rule. But this could be simple and it did look fun.

Charlie passed Belle a bracelet with what seemed to be roses and books on it. (Charms were so handy!) "For you, friend!"

Jon scowled at the thin floss and tiny beads as he massaged his hand, trying to get as much feeling in his fingers as possible. He would not admit defeat!

He wasn't going to be the fastest at it, though. Fortunately (for some value of the word), he didn't really have anyone to give one to, so it didn't matter if it ended up sloppy and loose.

"Made one for you," Stark said, grinning as he handed over the small braid of browns and blacks and greys.

"I couldn't think of how to make it look like paintball..."

"Thank you," Anakin said with a smile, "but that's not necessary."

"You're my friend," Stark said. "For longer than anyone else here. It isn't about necessary."

I didn't make you one."

Awkward pause.

"...yet."

Masterfully done, Anakin.
