Callisto waited until the class finished marching into the clearing they'd been given ~~*handwavey*~~ directions to.

"First things first," she held up a large box. "At the start of each class you will take off your shoes and put them in this box. You will get them back at the end of class, if I believe that you have paid sufficient attention in class. Otherwise I get to keep them for the week. After you've done that I want you to introduce yourself to the class and say why you decided to take this workshop."

"Since this is the first class, I'd thought I'd start with something fairly simple. Fandom is filled with many unique and interesting animals, from the ducks and giant squid, to the dancing lemers and weetiny bunnies, to the minature giraffes and shy, retiring teal deer, to John Crichton. Some of these are harmless, others dangerous, still more tasty. Which is why, when lost in the wilderness, it's important to know what animals might be in your near vicinity. One of the best ways to do this is through tracking, the basics of which I will be teaching you today."

Callisto went on to give a very interesting and informative talk on tracking. It might even have drawn the attention of a few teal deer.

"Your assignment today is to split into pairs and identify which Fandom animal made the set of tracks I've assigned you.

"Good luck. You're going to need it."

Sam laughed. "Oh, so she's one of those kinds of teachers. That's good, because I know I'm not getting my weekly recommended dose of torture here."

Molly shrugged. "Callisto is really nice, but she's from a different time. I wouldn't be surprised if she thinks we're all too soft really. The torture would just be an added bonus for her," Molly said with another grin.

"I guess I can understand that. And as long as we get our shoes back at the end of the class, there probably isn't a reason to complain."

Sam paused awkwardly for a second, just looking at Molly, before he reminded himself to breathe and spoke again. "Um, so I was just wondering...are you doing anything this weekend?" he asked.

It was pure coincidence that Cameron was closeby, waiting for Joxer to pair up with or that he noticed Sam and Molly talking. If he suddenly looked tense? It was totally unrelated to Sam's questions.

It took almost all of her control, but Molly was able to stop herself from looking around for Cam after Sam asked his question. She had told Dawn she would say yes, but, after what Cam had said to her on Monday, there was no way she could say no if Cam was in earshot. Hopefully, Sam wouldn't notice her hesitation. Or at least, only put it down to having to think about her weekend.

"I may have cheerleader try outs at some point, but other than that, I'm free," she said.

Sam noticed the hesitation, but didn't think much of it. His brain was a little busy making sure the next part of his question would come out correctly.

"Well then, would you like to get together and do something? We could go out for coffee, or something else if coffee's not your thing."

"Sure," Molly said with a smile. "It'll have to be the something else though. Unlike most of the rest of the school, I don't drink coffee at all."

So maybe it wasn't purely coincidence if Cameron squared his shoulders and moved off to wait for this Joxer person at the other side of the clearing.

For a moment, all Sam could do was think, Oh my god, she said yes! and grin at Molly. "That's fine. That's great, actually. There are definitely other places in town where we could go," he said, cutting himself off before he could begin babbling.

"I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine," Molly said and couldn't help but grin back at him. He really was cute. "I'll find out from Buffy about the cheerleader stuff and let you know when that is going to be. We can decide on a time after that. Does that sound okay?"

"That sounds perfect," Sam replied, trying to tone down the grin at least a little.

Molly just continued to grin back at him because, omg, dimples!

The grin definitely made Sam feel better about this whole thing. "I should probably go meet up with Aeryn so we can check out our tracks. But yeah, whenever you figure out what a good time would be, you can let me know."

"Okay. I'll find out from Buffy as soon as possible," Molly said. "Talk to you later."

"Yeah, later," he said, smiling again before he headed off to find Aeryn.
