Callisto waited until the class finished marching into the clearing they'd been given ~~*handwavey*~~ directions to.

"First things first," she held up a large box. "At the start of each class you will take off your shoes and put them in this box. You will get them back at the end of class, if I believe that you have paid sufficient attention in class. Otherwise I get to keep them for the week. After you've done that I want you to introduce yourself to the class and say why you decided to take this workshop."

"Since this is the first class, I'd thought I'd start with something fairly simple. Fandom is filled with many unique and interesting animals, from the ducks and giant squid, to the dancing lemers and weetiny bunnies, to the minature giraffes and shy, retiring teal deer, to John Crichton. Some of these are harmless, others dangerous, still more tasty. Which is why, when lost in the wilderness, it's important to know what animals might be in your near vicinity. One of the best ways to do this is through tracking, the basics of which I will be teaching you today."

Callisto went on to give a very interesting and informative talk on tracking. It might even have drawn the attention of a few teal deer.

"Your assignment today is to split into pairs and identify which Fandom animal made the set of tracks I've assigned you.

"Good luck. You're going to need it."

"I was trying to stop it from falling onto the ground, and she bounced off before I could give it back to her," said Janet, conveniently forgetting to mention that it was while Buffy was trying to ~~pressgang~~ recruit her onto the cheerleading squad.

Callisto currently had no sympathy for cheerleading related woes. "If you didn't want to cheerlead you shouldn't have taken the uniform."

"I didn't take the uniform!" exclaimed Janet. "I'm not the cheerleading type, I don't do school spirit, or perky and bouncy, or skirts that make me look shorter than I already am!"

"And I'm not the cheer-coach kind, but I don't have a choice about that," Callisto said. "I would advise you to stop irritating me before you're in a similar situation."

"How was I supposed to know that?" asked Janet, rolling her eyes. Because irritating cranky warlord types was always the best way to start off a morning. "I thought maybe you'd had a random impulse thought it was a good way to, I don't, teach gymnastics and wilderness survival."

Especially when those cranky warlord types had been given power by the administation. "Janet, report to the cheerleading tryouts when Buffy holds them," Callisto said. "Luckily you're small enough that you'll go fairly high when they throw you."

"I really hate you right now," said Janet, her eyes narrowed. "Look, do you take bribes?"

"Not unless they come in the form of hog-tied vampires with doofy hair."

"Damn it. I can't get to Los Angeles, not to mention, sedating a vampire is a pain in the ass," said Janet. Maybe if she e-mailed Angel, he'd take pity on her? "And why is his hair that doofy, anyway?"

"Far as I can tell, magic hairgel," Callisto replied. "No vampire, no release from cheer-bondage."

"I hate magic, I hate vampires, and I hate cheerleading," said Janet. "This is some sort of karmic revenge on me, isn't it?" She stalked away, coming up with and discarding various schemes for getting Angel back here. ~~It was amazing how many of them involved a mug of blood, a large arrow with 'Free Blood Here,' and a very heavy anvil.~~
