Potatoes!, Friday Second Period
"Good morning, everyone!" Raiden said to his students once they had joined him in the Danger Shop. "I'd like to apologize again for not being here last week for what should have been our first class. I had a minor emergency to attend to with my other...well, my other-other job. Anyway! We're all here now to learn about the noble potato!" Raiden held up a medium-sized russet and beamed at it. "Look at it, it's beautiful.
"The potato is truly a culinary miracle. Not only is it delicious and versatile, it's nutritious, too. Not only is it an excellent source of carbohydrates--which give your body fuel, ignore those Atkins people--it's also a great source of fiber, and various vitamins and minerals. Especially if you eat the skins, which you should. The skins are delicious. In fact, a medium baked potato contains about fifteen percent of your recommended daily value of potassium, and thirty percent of the recommended daily value of vitamin C! Take that, oranges! Nothing against oranges," he added quickly. "They're great. But you can't fry them." Someone at a midwestern state fair would probably prove him wrong on that point.
"Today we're going to start with one of the simplest and most beautiful ways to cook a potato: the baked potato. Now, you have a couple of options when it comes to baking a potato. You can, of course, cook it in the oven. You can cook it in the microwave. You can do it in the air fryer or the Instant Pot. Or, if you don't have access to any of those, you can bake 'em in a campfire, which is why we're meeting here today instead of in the Home Ec classroom. I want everyone to pick a method and prepare a potato, and while they bake everyone can introduce themselves! Who are you, what's your deal, what's your favorite kind of potato or potato dish, that kind of thing. Ooh, what do you like to top your baked potatoes with? I think I thought of all the usual suspects," he said, glancing towards the toppings bar, which was plentiful indeed, "but maybe I missed something..." He shook it off. "Oh, well. Let's get started!"

And a class with Raiden was sure to be enjoyable.
He was cooking his potato at the campfire because why not?
"I'm not sure which is truly my favorite but I do like french fries a lot. And mashed potatoes!"

If you remember me mentioning a plumbing situation in December, well. It came back.
