"You guys may have noticed," Gladio started class with a faint grin, "that we've been leaning pretty heavily on the communication concepts these last few weeks, which hopefully just really highlights for you how important we think good communication skills are for a team. And we still want to do a little something more with communication, but we also don't want you resting too much on your laurels in the combat part of all of this, so today? We're going to be playing a sort of communications guessing game....but with a twist."

"In this here bucket," Prompto lifted it up proudly, "is a bunch of various people, places, and things. You're going to pull out one of these random...well, prompts," excuse him a moment while he snickered at the word choice, "and then it's up to you to decide: you can either try to get the rest of the class to guess what your word is, but, you can only do so through charades and gestures and answering yes or no questions. No speaking beyond yes or no."

"Or maybe," Ignis allowed, "since sometimes the answer to a seemingly simple question can be surprisingly complicated."

"Especially if you're a pedantic asshole like some people in the room," said Gladio with a grin.

"Who shall remain nameless," Prompto added, as if no one really knew who they could possibly be talking about.

A pedantic asshole who was remaining nameless cleared his throat. "Are we talking about clear and precise communication?" he asked. "Or are we not?"

"We are! We are!" Prompto confirmed, barely holding back a snicker. "Anyway, we're getting off track. The point is, we're going to sort of do a charades sort of thing, you pick a word out of the bucket, and your teammates have two minutes to try and guess what that word is, and you're only allowed to use gestures or answer yes or no or maybe to questions. And, if your team fails to guess in those two minutes?"

"We unleash a few monsters on you guys to fight," Gladio said.

"So, yeah, you know," Prompto chuckled, "pressure's on! Get yourself armed up, and then we'll get started!"

Take your turn pulling a word or phrase from the bucket (completely moddable, although if you need some inspiration, this prompt generator looks pretty fun!). When you're ready, make a thread and your teammates can jump in with guesses or questions about your word or phrase and try to get it based on gestures or yes/no/maybe answers! If you get it right, awesome! If you can't guess it before the time runs up, then get ready to fight (it'll be gremlins, but dressed up in various Halloween pet costumes, because Prompto was feeling inspired, okay?)

Do I know how this is going to play out mechanically? NOPE. Let's just see where it goes, I guess! The person with the prompt gets to decide when the two minutes are up and the monster attacks if someone's not getting it!

Nell mimed out scooping something onto something she held in her hand, then licking it.

"Er...ice cream," Jon guessed.

He really hoped he was right. He'd done enough monster fighting.

Nell nodded encouragement, then pointed to the base of what she was holding in her hand.

SO close, Jon! Ice cream... what?

"Er...ice cream cone?" Please be right!

"Yes!" Nell said delightedly

"Oh, thank god." Jon smiled back, relieved.

When it was his turn, Jon frowned at the paper, then mimed holding something in one hand and screwing something on (or possibly) off above it.

Who might just wait a few rounds to decided whether or not they should jump in and help.

Gladio is the one most likely to throw the guesses off the path of the right answer just to get to fight.

"Pest," Nell said fondly. "What was that for?"

"What was what for?" Gladio asked,with a grin that seemed to defy aby sense of innocent confusion he was trying to portray, but, in his defense, there was probably a lot he could have called pest for. "Can't a guy just be a pest without needing to justify it?"

"Apparently he can," Nell said with a nudge. "So, have you replenished all the Cup Noodle in the machine yet?"

And that was one way to get the shameless smirk to drop from Gladio's face, replacing it with a disgruntled groan of irritation.

"Restock should be coming in either tomorrow or later today," he said. "And then I'm sending the bill straight to the Democratic State of New Insomnia."

Because he could just do that now!

Nell couldn't help but grin. "As if we don't have enough CUp Noodle just in the house to keep us fed for ages."

"But that's different," Gladio argued mildly, with just a small amount of petulance in there. "Those are the house Cup Noodles^TM. And then there's the Gym Cup Noodles^TM. Good thing she didn't find out about the house Cup Noodles^TM, or she'd very probably taken off with a ton of those, too!

"To be fair," he allowed, a bit more charitable, "the wide selection of amazing flavors and styles of Cup Noodles^TM offered in this world really can't be beat. I can't blame her for wanting to take advantage of every delicious opportunity she could!"

Nell laughed. "She could have tried, but I don't think you would have let her get to far."

Such a lie. Gladio would have put up a good show, but anything his sister wanted she was going to get.

Prompto is the one most likely to jump into the game because he gets caught up in the excitement of it.

Ignis is the one to point out flaws in reasoning and logic that lead to both failures and successes. Because technically speaking....
