This week the students need tables. Oh yess. On each table is a stack of magazines, Cosmo, Elle, Glamour, Lucky, YM, GQ, Maxim, and FHM.

Elle is wearing a bright pink suit with black trim. Her hair is pulled back and she is wearing pink framed glasses. She totally looks the part.

"Super, you're here. Ok. This is the image workshop, so before we can really begin, I need you to understand your style, as well as what style you aspire to. I brought in magazines and there are scissors and glue and tag board and markers. I'd like you to spend the first half of the workshop making a collage for yourself. Label things you like and hate, and make sure you add why. Is the shirt too short? The pants to tight? The suit too formal? All these things will help us get together to understand the do's and don'ts of what you are doing now with your appearance.

The second half of the afternoon will be taken up with dress up. I have my digital camera, so boys to the left and girls to the right. There are racks and racks of clothes kindly donated by the Delta Nu sorority and the Sigma Nu fraternity. I want you to try on at least three outfits and we'll add those to the collage next week once I get them printed out. And totally talk about color choices and fit and stuff. Have you ever watched "What you shouldn't dress yourself in?" Today is our own little mini-show.

By the end of the workshop you will understand why you dress the way you do, why others dress the way they do, and what to wear when. But the most important thing about any fashion is having the attitude to pull it off. I'm sure that's how those British ladies get away with some of those hats at weddings. What are those about, anyhow?"

Buffy smiled. "I'm Buffy. Isn't this the best class ever?" She spotted an image and grabbed her scissors, before showing it to Blair. "Like, depressing, much? (http://pics.livejournal.com/1ordinarygirl/pic/00071xc4/g9)"

"Nice to meet you, Buffy." Blair leaned closer and nodded. "Yeah, she does seem really sad. But at least she's looking at the camera. All the guys in the magazines seem to be looking (http://www.dannysteyn.com/images/male-model-portfolio-019.jpg) off into the distance. What do you think they're all looking at?"

Buffy pondered. "Maybe they're not looking at anything? Maybe they're just scared of the camera?"

"Maybe they're just walking along, looking cool, and someone comes up and forces them to model. They don't want to do it, but The Man makes them." Blair shook his head. "Poor nicely dressed man. He never had a chance."

"That definitely didn't happen to this girl (http://pics.livejournal.com/1ordinarygirl/pic/00072ttr/g9)," Buffy noted. "'Cause that's just way not stylish."

"Whoa." Blair tilted his head a little while looking at the picture. "Is that a frame around her neck? Is that supposed to signify something deep?"

River sat down next to Buffy. She too began looking through the magazines, a troubled frown on her face. This was harder than she thought. Simon would probably have found this much easier.

"Look," she said. "This (http://www.karachiplus.com/fashion/br_img/41.jpg) is nice. It looks like something from that movie we saw." She frowned. "I don't think I could wear it though. Inara could."

Buffy leaned over to look. "It does! It's pretty, but I could never wear it. Who's Inara? I don't think I've met her yet."

"She's a friend. Not from here," River explained. "She's a companion and has a lot of elegant clothes."

"Cool! ...What's a companion?" Buffy blinked. She absently glued another cut out onto her collage (http://pics.livejournal.com/1ordinarygirl/pic/00079dz4) while waiting for the answer.

"It's like a whore, but a bit more fancy," River explained, glueing pictures to her collage.

"Like in Beautiful Female when she's met the rich dude?"

"Huh?" River looked confused.

"The movie? With the hooker who meets this rich guy and then they fall in love and it's really romantic?"

Another movie. "Haven't seen it. But I don't think Inara would fall in love with a rich guy. I think she prefers her independence."

"Those are so...foreign. But really pretty. They put a lot of work into that embroidery." Elle said cheerfully.
