Fun Animal Facts, Thursday, Period One
Today, in class, there were penguins. Tiny, adorable penguins and one... not so tiny, but still adorable penguin waiting for everyone.
"Please don't ask how we got these here," Jane said, for sure making it even more suspect.
"Not for eating," Cara dutifully recited off her note. "For the record that was written in all capitals."
"...people eat them?" Oh, the horror on Jane's face.
"I mean, I don't think they'd have enough meat on them to be worth the effort," Cara tried, carefully not looking at the giant fluffball.
Said fluffball waddled along to lean against Cara's legs. Clearly think she was his mother.
"But penguins," Jane said, shaking that off and looking at the notes. "Are a flightless bird, native mostly to the southern hemisphere. A group of them on land is called a waddle. That's pretty adorable."
"Yes, adorable," Cara deadpanned as she nudged the penguin away. Though at least it wasn't trying to eat them.
Oh, no, Cara. He loved you.
It was not mutual.
"And since we're in the northern hemisphere, we'll take this time to let you all get familiar with the penguins," Jane added.
"Apparently we have fish for them." In two different sizes, obviously.
