Food Field Trips, Friday 9/13 2nd Period

Once again the class was meeting by the Portalocity office.

“Welcome back,” Stark said. He looked less anxious this week though that was not exactly a high bar to clear.

“Today we’ll be visiting Atlanta, Georgia where the World of Coca-Cola is located. As far as I know, the bears that visit the island in December will not be there handing out bottles of soda.”

But you could take pictures with a person dressed as a Coke bear! They probably didn’t hug as well as the real bears.

“When we get there you can visit a number of exhibits inside the museum, along with a tasting room, a theatre where you can watch a very short movie, and several other things. You’ll see when we get there. Shall we?”

Once he was certain everyone was there, Stark ushered everyone through the portal before going through himself.

“And here we are. We’ll meet back here in the afternoon and head back to the island together.”

Welcome to the World of Coca-Cola!
While you’re here take some time to view the exhibits, like the Icons exhibit where you can take your photo with that person dressed up like a Coke bear. Or the Scent Discovery exhibit where you can learn about the connections between smell and memory. Or maybe you want to check out the Beverage Lab for a chance to taste some discontinued Coke products and some not-yet-released ones as well.

If that’s not enough, definitely go to Taste It! to try some Coca-Cola products from around the world. Go ahead, try The Beverly. Get your friends to try it. Maybe take a video.

There’s also a giant Coke store where you can buy all the swag you could ever want

Steven was a bit skittish about the idea of the exhibit on memories. On the other hand, he definitely wanted to make certain he and Llewellyn had their picture taken with the person dressed up as a bear.

Did Watts reach out and take Steven's hand to offer a subtle squeeze of reassurance as the Scent Discovery exhibit and what it entailed was described to them? Absolutely.

Steven gave Llewellyn a grateful, albeit nervous look. "I - I think I'd like to skip that one, if that's all right. You can see it without me if you want."
