"Welcome to Ethics class," Anakin said, sweeping in with his cloak fluttering around his booted legs. "I see a few familiar faces."

"And a few new students," Ahsoka added, nodding at the class. "In this class we're going to be taking something of a practical approach. Ideals don't really mean anything if you don't at least attempt to live up to them."

"Sometimes those ideals crumble faster than you think they will," Anakin said, "and sometimes other people don't live up to your expectations."

Not that either of those statements applied to anyone in this room.

"As an example, we'll start off with introductions and a game of two truths and a lie," Ahsoka said. "After all, lying is generally considered unethical."

"But it's also one of the first ideals to get stretched," Anakin said. "Every child will lie to attempt to get out of taking responsibility for an error."

"Then you get the grown adults who claim that the truth all depends on a certain point of view." Again, not a statement that applied to anyone in this classroom. At all.

Anakin laughed. ."Well, sometimes it does. Not always, though. So for today's introductory exercise, we will do two truths and a lie."

What could Lydia say for two truths and a lie? Hmmm.

Miss Tano's statement about the truth depending on point of view did give her a few ideas.

"I am Miss Lydia Bennet," Lydia said. "One of my sisters used to be a cat, a dear friend of mine is now a seal, and I was once almost eaten by a dragon."

Kamala just looked at Lydia in amazement. "You're my big sib and it's like I don't even know you... Uhhhh."

She pondered the whole options and finally said: "I'm going to say it was your sister being a cat. I don't why. Maybe because my brother would never be a cat or a dog and I can't see him that way."

"Oh, no," Lydia told her, "that's absolutely true, although Kitty is quite girl-shaped now."

"What? Okay, so now I got to know the lie," Kamala said leaning in eagerly. "Or am I out of luck now?"

"Hi! I'm Kamala!" she said with a cheerful wave. "Annnd... hang one. Let's see. I once saved a bus full of people while wearing pajamas. Uh, I once wrote an entire fanfic series about Captain Marvel and her cat saving the galaxy. Annnnnnnnnnnd. Oh! I’ve been grounded for my house getting destroyed when I was teleported to another planet."

Lydia didn't know what half of those things were, but she very tentatively ventured, "The first one?" You weren't running about in your nightclothes, were you, Kamala?

“Yes! I was in my uniform. Which everyone just assumed was my pajamas,” Kamala said with a sigh.

Well, this would be easy, considering nobody knew him well enough yet to know any of those answers anyway.

"My name is Adrian Blackwood, I'm an only child, I live in a forest named for my family, and this is the furthest from my home I've ever been."

"Without knowing how far or near your home is, I shall venture that is the lie," Lydia said.

"I'm afraid not, Miss Bennet," he said with a small smile. "I have never left New England before this. May I attempt to guess one of yours?"

"Of course," Lydia assured him. "That is the purpose of this exercise, is it not?"

"My name is Stark. Three things...I never had a birthday until last year. I'm not human. And I have a pet cat."

"Hello Stark," Adrian said. "I'm Adrian. And, hmmm."

He looked thoughtful. "The pet cat seems like it's the least likely to be a lie, but I'm not sure if you're tricky in that way, or if you're just not particularly good at lying." He looked at Stark thoughtfully. "If you're not human, that might mean your aging is different than how we humans age, so that once again suggests the cat is the lie." He looked thoughtful. "You have a cat, but it's something more like a familiar or something, it's not a pet."

"I haven't got any pets," Stark confessed. "Or...familiars? There's just me. Summer has a cat so I see her, Pancakes, often."

And spoiled her, too, as was right and proper.

"So...a bit tricky?"

"A bit tricky!" Adrian agreed with a laugh. "So far, I've managed to guess correctly both times, but my conclusions have all been off."

Miss Bennet's had been easier, since one of the guesses had been eliminated already.

"I think that what this means is that I'm an excellent guesser, but that I shouldn't ever try to figure out the reasoning."

A pause and then, "Err, if I may ask, if you're not human, then...?"
