"The events you are participating in were chosen at random last night by five porgs spinning a wheel on which all Olympic events were listed. I am calling it the most modern pentathalon!"

If the pause was for applause, he'd be waiting a bit.

In which she did an overhand swing with her hand.

"And that's all I really know about volleyball."

"I thought it happened on the beach." That was all she knew about the sport - sometimes it showed up in stuff about beaches. "So you're just punching the ball back and forward a lot?"

Hadn't even had a unit in gym class about it every year or maybe that was just my high school

Jon eyed the ball dubiously and did his best to serve it. Right into the net, though it might barely make it over the top!

It did make it over the top! And Kamala reached up to set the ball to Arden but instead it bounced off her head and back over the net.

On the one hand, Lydia was quite tall for a woman, especially a woman of her time period.

On the other hand, "Do you have the faintest idea what we're supposed to be doing?" she hissed to Jon.
