Cultural Appreciation, Thursday 6/13, 6th Period
Sam Eagle was undeterred by the continued failure to expose this class to any real culture. Sam was a foolish sort of eagle but don’t let him hear you say that. He was much too dignified to be foolish, after all.
“Today we shall be experiencing the wonder of the ballet!” Sam declared. Yes, that was Swan Lake playing softly in the background if you were the sort of person who might recognize the music. “Dance being, of course, an important part of any culture and ballet being an excellent example of that. Ballet is beautiful! Dignified! Wholesome!”
"Meep!" Beaker added, coming into the room in a tutu. "Meep meep meep meep meep!"
“Beaker, you will not be dancing the part of Odette!” Nobody needed to see that, Beaker. Not even Bunsen. “We shall be watching a recording of a professional ballet company. One with trained and talented dancers!”
:"Meep meep meep meep meep meep meep meep," Beaker protested. "Meep meep meep meep mee!"
The chickens had called in some favors, Sam! Don't make Beaker look bad in front of the chickens!
“Beaker,” Sam asked warily, “what have you done? Why haven’t you pressed play yet?”
"Meep meep meep meep!" Brought in the swans to perform, of course!
“Beaker have you ever met a swan?” Sam asked, horrified. Swans were scary! Swans were strong! Swans could take everyone in this room, probably, especially a whole bevy of swans! “Send them away! Everyone run! Take cover!” Why was the music getting louder?
"Meep meep meep?" Beaker was not running or taking cover because Beaker had been born without a sense of self-preservation.
And then there were swans.
