Cultural Appreciation, Thursday 6/6, 6th Period
“Today,” Sam announced, looking almost gleeful, “we shall have a live example of culture here in our class! I was unwilling unable to confer with my colleague so I took the liberty to book some wholesome entertainment!”
Sorry, students.
“I have the honor and privilege,” Sam continued, “of introducing to you the renowned singers Wayne and Wanda.” He paused for applause. It was a long and awkward pause.
Did you know Muppets could look so tooth-rottingly wholesome? So, so wholesome! The kind of wholesome you sort of wanted to smack?
Sam knew. Obviously. And Sam was delighted to have those extremely wholesome Muppets here with him today.
“They will be performing for us today. You are all very lucky!” Were they, Sam? Really? “They will be premiering a new song for us! A song about birds.” All the best songs were about birds and America as far as Sam was concerned.
"It's called the Duck Song," Wanda said. "I'm sure you'll love it!"
It would get in your head for days!
“An eagle song would be better,” Sam said. “However ducks are still birds and you are my favorite performers and I look forward to this performance immensely!”
Wayne took his place behind a wooden stand helpfully labeled "LEMONADE" as the perky, wholesome music began. They both began to sing:
"A duck walked up to a lemonade stand
And he said to the man runnin' the stand--
"Hey!"
The clapping of their hands was drowned out by the sound of something stampeding and Beaker's distinctive, panicked, "MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE--" coming closer.
"--got any grapes?" Wayne finished faintly as roughly a thousand bunches of grapes with Muppet-y eyes and attitudes burst through the door.
“Take cover!” Sam bellowed.
But at least nothing was on fire? Yet.
Sorry, students.

After that, Miguel would be picking up a grape and eyeing it. It was weird that it could eye back, right?
