"Congratulations!" Walter reached across the table to offer her a handshake. "Now that I've turned in my Creature Languages paper, I'm finished with classes, too."

"Permit me to Congratulate you Mr. Dornez," Said Pippi taking his hand gently, "On the successful completion of the Fall Term."

"Why thank you, Miss Longstocking." Walter leaned back, butler-fu failing him completely as his tie dragged through his lesugna and slopped red sauce onto his waistcoat and shirt.

"This is bad."

"Last clean shirt?"

"Thanks to Nadia, I have a clean waistcoat, but yes, last clean shirt, and Alfred in," he pulled out his pocketwatch and checked it, "not enough time to get red sauce out."

"All and Sundries?"

"That sounds like a cunning plan."

Nadia wandered over with her tray, entirely filled with rice krispie treats, just in time to see the butler-not-fu in action.

"This is why I handwash my clothes."

"I just have lots of clothes." Pippi says with a grin.

Walter smiled at Nadia as she joined them and grinned at her lunch choice. "If I didn't value my skin, I'd wear my clean dungarees to work. At least I'll have clean clothes for tomorrow." Today was another matter.

"I may have a white shirt you could use..."

"You could borrow something of mine," Nadia offered, since he'd lent her a shirt last night (which she totally wasn't still wearing, I don't know what you're talking about). "But that might just prove Lucas right."

Walter looked up from wiping sauce off his tie to give Nadia a look. "Knowing you, you'd want me in a skirt again." Perhaps he wasn't doing the best of jobs at hiding that smile, but he was working on it.

"Nah, no time to get your legs rewaxed." Nadia made no attempt to hide her smile. "Though it would be properly formal attire."

Walter made a face at the mention of leg waxing, and the reminder made him unconsciously scratch his leg. There's nothing quite like the joy of hair growing back in.

"Alfred's reaction couldn't be any worse than it's going to be when I show up in dungarees, a waistcoat, and a shirt borrowed from Pippi." He made a mental note to make sure there was ice in the common room fridge. He might need it.

"You can't just tell Alfred that the laundry machines are being cranky? I can come with you and provide a first hand witness statement,"

"Ya, we can totally back you up on this one. And we'd even be telling the truth!"

"He might surprise me and be very understanding. Or he might be annoyed that I didn't have the foresight to have a spare set of clothing no matter the state of the washing machines. He would never be caught without the proper clothes."

"Yes, but he's old and has been a butler forever. You're still learning." And probably wouldn't graduate until he could snatch the ruler from Alfred's hand. . . .

If Walter could read minds, he'd be reaching for brain bleach. However, since he could not read minds, he was unaware of how grateful he should be for not being able to read minds.

"Enough of Alfred talk. I'll take you up on the offer of the white shirt, Pippi, if it's not a girl's blouse."

"Nope!" she said, "It was Fredolf's!"

"Thanks. I'll have to take you up on your offer." Better to wear a borrowed shirt than to show up to work wearing lasagna or a t-shirt.

Speaking of which, Nadia was still wearing his. Huh.

What? She hadn't been back up to her room for long enough to change. Right.

Nadia picked up one of rice krispie treats. "Assuming you survive work this evening, we should celebrate. No more classes."

"He won't kill me. He wouldn't be able to torture me. So celebrating sounds like a brilliant idea. Did you have something ~~with kissing~~ in mind?"

He was well aware that tomorrow was Pippi's birthday, but that was a birthday party-type event, not a we-lived-through-a-Fandom-High-semester type event.

Nadia was not aware that tomorrow was Pippi's birthday. Someone should tell her so she can get her a good gift ~~and not a lame gift certificate to Empire~~.

"Dance party on the roof?"

"Brilliant!"

"I like it." Walter nodded enthusiastically. "Dancing on the roof is never a bad idea." ~~Until you dance over the edge of course, then it's just funny.~~

It's all fun and games until somebody puts an eye out...

Then it's time for marbles.

Don't tell Pip I said that.

*glares* I totally heard that!
