Office Hours/Anthropology

Well, even though he now only has the one anthropology student left, Daniel's still in his office, just in case.

He's grading Kiki's paper, and only getting slightly distracted by his list of things to do.

Which is getting longer and longer.

Daniel frowned too. "Okay, yes, that's true. And I'd probably have to put up with Elizabeth as well, I'd presume."

"Put up with?" asked Janet, raising one eyebrow. "Come on, she doesn't tease you that badly, does she?"

Actually, this was Liz. She probably did.

Daniel just looked at her, his eyebrows raised.

Janet smiled sheepishly. "All right, she gives you hell, I'm sure of it. You poor man."

Daniel sighed melodramatically. "I deal with it. But I'd rather not ask for trouble by having her take one of my classes."

"Yes, well, it's not like you don't have any reason to deal with it," said Janet. And then she blushed faintly. "But you're right; Liz isn't going to give up languages."

Daniel just looked down at his desk, slightly uncomfortably. "I think I'll just stick with archaeology and/or anthropology. Safest all round really."

"Um. Sorry." Janet looked down. "At least those are classes I don't need to take. I can learn enough about those subjects just listening to you."

"I don't mind when you do," said Janet. "If it's a problem, I tell you, remember?"

"Good," Daniel smiled at her. "Because I'd hate to be continually boring you."

"Never," said Janet, smiling back at him. "You're a very interesting person."

Daniel laughed slightly, looking a little embarrassed. "Oh, I wouldn't go that far," he said.

"I would." Janet smiled again.

So why was she sitting all the way over here again?

Daniel glanced at his closed office door and then back at Janet again. This had failed spectacularly the last time, but the time in the library had worked...

"Come here," he said, moving away from the desk and holding out his arms.

"All right," said Janet, standing up and going over to him. She stood in front of him and grinned a little mischievously. "Is this better?"

Daniel leant forward to grab her and pull her towards him.

Janet laughed as Daniel grabbed onto her. She reached out to brace her hands on his chest so she didn't lose her balance.

"Now, see, that's much better," Daniel grinned.

"I'd have to agree," said Janet, smiling up at him. She shifted in his lap so that she was sitting comfortably.

Daniel groaned slightly as he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.

Janet, who was kind of oblivious at the moment, didn't notice the effect she was having on Daniel. "This is nice," she said, snuggling up against his chest.

"Very nice," Daniel agreed, gently kissing the top of her head.

Janet tilted her head up to look into Daniel's eyes. "You know, it might be even nicer if you kissed me," she said softly.

"I think I can oblige with that," he said, leaning down and doing exactly that.
