Were your teachers a little too excited to be out by the abandoned campsite with paintball equipment and protective jumpsuits for everyone? Well, yes, but it was summer and summer meant the annual "Fandom takes this class far too seriously" workshop and Steve Rogers, at least, was thrilled about it. "Welcome to paintball!" he said, beaming at them.

"If this is your first time playing, we'll be starting out easy with just the basics," Tony added. "And we'll move into more exciting game modes with each class."

Enjoy the paint sniper rifles in later weeks, folks.

"Today it's just you, the course, and the paintball pistols we've provided. Each one has six shots, but we've been nice and hidden ammunition around the course," Steve said, waving to the paint-stained campground. "Use the buildings as protection or for vantage points if you can get up faster than your classmates can shoot you. You have five minutes to change into your protective gear, then it's every person for themselves." He grinned. "Tony and I, as always, will also be participating."

"Just have fun with it," Tony said like he could prevent some people from going nuts. He could not. "It's a game, after all."

"Skywalker," Steve added a little more pointedly. "McGarrett."

Cal immediately worked on parkouring his way up one of the buildings to get a better vantage point. If he could throw the paint, this would be so much better, but he'd make it work.

Arden wasn't gonna take Kamala out, that went against girl code. But Cal? If she shot no one else, she was going after him. Dinner was on the line! And also pride! Two very important things!

"Cal!" she hissed. "Hey Cal!"

Cal glanced over at her as he climbed and smiled. He let go with one hand to wave, and then went for his paintball gun. He was getting that dinner, thank you very much.

The cool thing about being the one who wasn't climbing? She already had her gun out.

"I'd like to try Cafe Fina, I think," she said sweetly, before shooting at him.

Just ignore how the first shot missed. Something something, unrefined weapons, something something just hanging out one handed on a climb, sweet goddess.

The important thing though was that she got him with the second. And blew him a kiss because that totally fell under the heading of trash talk right after taking him out and scampered away to hide again.

Cal was just going to hang there for a moment, partly from the shock of her actually hitting him, and partly because that air kiss shut his brain down for a moment.

And then he shot in the direction she had hidden, because he could. "Fine then! We'll see what happens next week!"
