Paintball, 1st Period - Monday

Were your teachers a little too excited to be out by the abandoned campsite with paintball equipment and protective jumpsuits for everyone? Well, yes, but it was summer and summer meant the annual "Fandom takes this class far too seriously" workshop and Steve Rogers, at least, was thrilled about it. "Welcome to paintball!" he said, beaming at them.

"If this is your first time playing, we'll be starting out easy with just the basics," Tony added. "And we'll move into more exciting game modes with each class."

Enjoy the paint sniper rifles in later weeks, folks.

"Today it's just you, the course, and the paintball pistols we've provided. Each one has six shots, but we've been nice and hidden ammunition around the course," Steve said, waving to the paint-stained campground. "Use the buildings as protection or for vantage points if you can get up faster than your classmates can shoot you. You have five minutes to change into your protective gear, then it's every person for themselves." He grinned. "Tony and I, as always, will also be participating."

"Just have fun with it," Tony said like he could prevent some people from going nuts. He could not. "It's a game, after all."

"Skywalker," Steve added a little more pointedly. "McGarrett."

Where Danny knew for a fact he was gonna get shot by Steve to test the range of that pistol.

Arden was changing into her jumpsuit a little wide-eyed. She recognized Officers McGarrett and Williams, so those were cops, and she was pretty sure that was the Dean and...

She was starting to get the feeling she was maybe a little outclassed here.

No introductions? Just go? Okaaaay?

"We're totally outclassed here," Kamala said in a sotto voice towards Arden. "I mean, I can do things but these guys look paramilitary."

"Yuuuup," Arden agreed. "There's a whole contingent of them that are like...space soldiers, kinda."

Look, Cal hadn't really gotten around to explaining what Jedi were, yet. But she'd seen him fight with his laser blade, so she felt confident in that much.

"I am so gonna end up paying for dinner." Possibly even before she saw Cal on the field.

"Oh, no, Cal and I, uh, made a bet," Arden said, determined to sound very casual because this was a totally normal friend thing that friends did. "Loser has to buy dinner for the other person."

Get lost squirrels. They're "just friends". But we all know how that worked out for Anakin and Rory.

Cal appreciated that the jumpsuit meant he might not have to do laundry, and was scoping out everyone else to see who looked like they might have a little too much fun today.

After getting suited up and just slightly antagonizing Arden, Kamala swung by Cal. "Hi! We haven't met yet," she said holding out her hand for a handshake. "Kamala Khan. I'm your new neighbor."

"Cal Kestis," he said, shaking her hand. "It's nice to meet you. I normally have a droid friend with me, but I wasn't sure how the whole paint thing would go."

BD-1 had made it very clear that if he got painted, Cal would be responsible for cleaning him off and asking forgiveness.

"How's the manor been treating you so far?"

"Really great! It decorated my room in a second and perfectly," She said cheerfully. "I haven't met a lot of my roommates yet. Just Marc, you and Arden."

What? Her mention Arden's name to see his reaction? Nah. She's not that devious.

"Oh, well if you've already met Arden, you started with the best neighbor. Not that everyone isn't great." Subtle as a block to the head, he was. "Steven and Watts are really nice, and Dean's pretty cool. Gonzo... well, you have to experience Gonzo for yourself." He didn't have a good way to explain Muppets yet.

"Guy made of felt? Yeah, I'm looking forward to that," Kamala said with a grin. "And so you say Arden's the best neighbor? Where do you fall then? Above? Below? Somewhere around a guy made of felt?"

These pistols were kind of cool, if a little smaller than what Summer preferred to lug around and shoot with, but it was fine, because she was just feeling the fact that she knew she could pull off cute in a jumpsuit like nobody's business.

And he was a thoroughly unbiased source. Obviously.

"Thanks!" said Summer, with a shift of her shoulder to really emphasize the cuteness, even if with Stark it was hardly necessary to remind him of it. "You, too!"

He would probably need it more than she did, what with this gun being extraordinary larger than the one he was used to welding!

"So what do you think, though?" she asked. "Watch each other's back, or fend for ourselves?"

Stark's usual gun was of a similar size! How dare.

"I'm always happy to watch your back." That statement worked on multiple levels.

"But maybe this week just see what happens? We might need to team up other weeks. But you should always try to shoot Anakin."

"Don't be gross, Stark," said Summer, in a tone that seemed to only be encouraging him to be gross. "And, yeah, I mean, obviously, shooting for Anakin just goes without saying. But there's also a lot of new faces this year. I want to size them up and get a good feel for what we're dealing with with them."

Summer had no idea what the narrative had been talking about, that people took this way too seriously.
