Video Games are Great!; Monday, Third Period [05/13].
Somehow, Yukari eventually managed to find out about the Danger Shop. Somehow, even more bewilderingly, she actually managed to figure out how to use it? No, she was trying not to examine it too closely, too, don't worry. But, either way, she had found out about it and she did figure out how it worked, and so that's what brought them all here today.
"Good morning!" she greeted everyone cheerfully. "And welcome to Video Games are Great! Where we're going to learn about all kinds of video games and why they're great! My name is Yukari Tanizaki, and I'll be your instructor for this class, and don't you worry! I know a lot about video games!
"But," she said, "before we get into the video games proper, we need to know who you are!" She gestured now to a screen that had popped up that had several fields in it, a rather blank canvas of a figure, and one of those digital keyboards that you knew was going to be annoying to actually type something out on, and several controllers. "And that means character creation!
"Now," she said, "this here is your pretty standard boilerplate character creation screen, where you'll have the chance to design your avatar from a wide variety of options and sliders, as well as input your name, where you're from, your favorite food, your favorite thing, your favorite color, and your preferred pet."
Will those be relevant at some point? Who knows! Maybe! Maybe not! Only time would tell!
"So," she said, "since character creation can be a long and lengthy process, especially since you'll be stuck with it for the rest of the session, we're going to take all class to really hone those avatars."
And also it was way less work for her!
"So, get to it, get to creating, and toward the end of the class, we'll spare a little time to share what we've come up with!"

She could ask what the hell was going on, or she could absolutely not do that and poke at shit instead.
Three guesses no prizes what she chose.
Class Activity: Creating Your Character! - Video Games, 05/13.
So take some time to figure out the heavily moddable character creation screen, take half the class just inputting the letters for your name, origins, favorite thing and food and color (sure, Yukari could have made this easier, but she really wanted to make it console-gaming accurate!).
The only pet options are a cat or a dog, unless you want to pay extra.
(Again, trying to make this experience authentic!).
Have fun! Yukari will be mostly working on hers with you guys, too!

Of course, once he got started, he found himself mired in that constant conundrum in nearly boundless options for customization: the paradox of choice.
Even naming himself was going to be problematic, cycling through handles both new and old, as well as some of his stage names, but none of them really landing just right...

Class Activity: Present your Character! - Video Games, 05/13.
"Oh!" said Yukari, as she grabbed everyone's attention for the reveal, "and I almost forgot, but if you could also take a moment to let me know what your level of gaming experience is, too, that'd be great, so I have an idea of what kind of newbs or otherwise I might be working with. Anyway, that said, who wants to go first?"
