Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Whoever worked the weather magic around here had done an excellent job to make sure things were nice outside for all the new (and old) residents of Fandom. It was warm and sunny, but not so humid that people would melt. There was plenty of moddable food and drinks, places to sit in the shade, and more than enough nametags to go around. It was time to celebrate the start of the summer!

She gave Arden a little elbow poke. “Nice. Definitely hotter than most aliens I’ve seen. And he carried you all the way home? Wow.”

She gave a slow nod. “I approve.”

“Oh, yeah, that was a couple of years ago. I got entangled quantumly with two other people and had to go with them to stop this other alien from destroying different planet’s ecosystems,” She explained as she held up her arm and showed off her bangle. She lit it up with the noor energy and let it flow up her hand. “She was after this so she could tear an opening between jump space conduits and steal the energy from our sun. We stopped her. But one of my friends got stuck behind the tear that was made. We’ve been trying to find a way to get her back.”

“Sorry? Uh. I have powers. And I’ve been to other planets because of cosmic weirdness,” she explained and did a little peace sign with her energy form. “My favorite planet is where everyone communicates by singing.”

"You know, that wasn't even the part I had a question about," Arden said with an huff of a laugh. "But what does it mean to be 'quantumly entangled' and what are 'jump space conduits' and how much energy was she going to steal because doesn't our sun put out...a lot?"

“Well her Sun was dying so she set up a conduit to steal energy from our sun to restart hers. Don’t ask me how that works. And my powers are light based and so we’re the other two peoples and somehow when Dar-benn (she was the bad guy) started messing with the jump portals (that allows spaceships to travel to different parts of the galaxy at light speed) they touched a portal at the same time I touched my Noni’s bangle.” She waved the bangle on her arm for emphasis. “So whenever we used our powers at the same time we teleported to the other person’s location.”

It’s all very simple, you see?

"But that's all fixed now?" Arden asked, deciding that vaguely getting it was good enough, especially at a picnic.

"Yeeeah," Kamala said, her voice dropping a little towards the end of the drawled out one word response.

"For the most part. Our powers are untangled, the sun is still there but we lost a friend in another dimension. We still haven't figured out where she is or how to get her back. So in the meantime."

She held up her plate of food. "School. And French onion dip."

"I'm sorry you lost a friend," Arden said softly. "And I hope you get her back soon. But yeah, until then...well, I'd say normalcy, but you're not gonna get that here, that's for sure."
