Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Whoever worked the weather magic around here had done an excellent job to make sure things were nice outside for all the new (and old) residents of Fandom. It was warm and sunny, but not so humid that people would melt. There was plenty of moddable food and drinks, places to sit in the shade, and more than enough nametags to go around. It was time to celebrate the start of the summer!

"Her name is Miss Kamala Khan, and she seems quite nice. She's from New Jersey, you know, one of the other colonies--states. She already knew quite a bit about this place, although she didn't know about things like the artwork coming alive a few weeks ago...oh, you might have missed that," Lydia realized. "I suppose you might have still been a tree then?"

"Y-yes," Boc confirmed, although his nod came with a little bit of uncertainty, because he did tend to miss a lot of things in general, what with how loathed he was to venture out from the safety of his under-the-counter next at the shop. "I...I believe so? I certainly didn't remember anything like that, so I must have still have been a tree."

His head tilted, though, a little, as he thought about, and he chanced a glance up at Lydia.

"Did they really, though? The artworks? Come to life? Was it frightening?"

It sounded frightening to him, but usually, when things came to life that weren't supposed to be alive back home, it was a terrifying prospect.

"I suppose it rather was," Lydia said. "I mostly stayed in the dorms until it was over. My needlework is frightful enough without it trying to harm me."

"Oh," Boc said quickly, "I'm sure it's not all that bad, miss."

And then, a second later, he very quickly added, "Erm, um, I mean, that is, unless it's supposed to be frightful? I know some people mean to make very frightful things, though I'll admit, you don't seem the type, but, again, things are not always what they seem, either."

"Oh, no," Lydia assured him. "I don't mean for it to be, I just...seem to have some natural talent for mucking it up. It came in quite handy once, though, in a rather metaphorical fashion."
