Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Whoever worked the weather magic around here had done an excellent job to make sure things were nice outside for all the new (and old) residents of Fandom. It was warm and sunny, but not so humid that people would melt. There was plenty of moddable food and drinks, places to sit in the shade, and more than enough nametags to go around. It was time to celebrate the start of the summer!

Boc had been so focused on trying to slip a handful of cookies off the table and into his pouch that, even soft as it was, the greeting still startled him. After jumping a little, he seemed to juggle the cookies between hands that suddenly felt he should drop them and flee the scene as quickly as possible, but he managed to salvage all but one.

He realized it was just Stark, blinked sadly at the lost cookie, and then sighed.

"All except that one, perhaps," he mused, "although it might still be salvageable....I'd hate to let it just go to waste..."

"Sorry," Stark said, frowning at the lost cookie. "I didn't mean to startle you..."

"I'm sure it will be eaten by the squirrels or the birds or something. You don't need to eat a cookie that's been on the ground."

Sure, they'd both eaten much worse things before but still. They didn't have to now!

"Oh," said Boc, still looking sadly down at the cookie, but then shifting his attention over to where he'd seen some squirrels, as if to mentally tell them it was alright, they could have the cookie if they wanted instead, "it's quite alright. I'm always startled, really, it just rather goes with the territory.

"I've finished your mending, by the way," he added. "Just swing by the shop any time you'd like to pick it up."

"I'm sorry," Stark said softly. "For startling you into dropping your cookie. Maybe I can buy you one tomorrow at the bakery?"

Sure, he could just pick up q ftee cookie now and hand it over but that was hardly the same thing.

"And I'll be by to pick up the clothes sometime soon. Thank you. I appreciate it."

Summer probably did too.

"Oh," said Boc, sounding absolutely miserable at the prospect, enough that he sent a withering look up at Stark as he shook his head, "no. Please don't do that."

There was a pause, when he realized he should clarify.

"Buy me a cookie, that is. Please, don't. But picking up your clothes, that, you should definitely do."

Even if they were much safer if they just remained in Boc's possession!

Fine, Boc. Stark was just going to bring you a cupcake when he came to pick up his clothes instead. So there.

"I'll be by soon to pick them up. And I'll try to take better care of them this time."

Maybe. Probably.

Terrible. Everyone on this island was terrible, and Boc was going to take back all the nice things he said about it, and rethink his opinions on the Lands Between being worse.

And he was also giving Stark the most doubtful look he could muster before shaking his head and sighing.

"I'm sure you will, sir, of course."
