Feeding Yourself 101, Friday Second Period

"Okay, so!" Raiden said to the assembled students. "I had a syllabus, but I lost it. Did we do pasta yet? I don't remember, and it doesn't matter, because pasta is delicious and worth two weeks even if we already did it. So: pasta! Or more broadly, noodles, because in English 'pasta' typically refers to the Italian variety, and they got the concept from China in the first place. Lots of cultures have noodles, because they're delicious.

"Now, if you're just learning to cook for yourself, you're probably not making your own fresh pasta--but if you want to try, I strongly encourage that! It's fun! You can, however, buy fresh pasta at the store if you want to, and dried pasta is a staple you should always have on your pantry shelf. There are so many delicious things you can make with pasta. Chicken alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs, pasta alla norma...and then you've got your lo mein, your ramen, your Vietnamese vermicelli dishes. Hamburger Helper, don't knock that one. It's delicious. There are all sorts of fantastic pasta and noodle recipes out there, so I want you to pick one and try making it today."
