"Konnichiwa, minasa~an!" Yukari greeted the class brightly, looking incredibly pleased with a stack of papers in her arms; she slipped one off the top of the stack and brandished it proudly. "We're having a pop quiz today!"

Weren't you just so excited? Actually, some of you might actually be, because Yukari got some really nerdy vibes from some of you, but that was neither here nor there.

"So far, we've covered all sorts of things already, like greetings and table manners and social events, so that's plenty of material to go over again and reinforce with a test! And just so you know," Yukari continued, as she went around to pass out the tests to the students, "the questions were made for me by an old associate of mine back in Tokyo named Ishikawa. A lot of my students would complain about how much more challenging his questions were than mine, but since some of you are already pretty familiar with Japanese, I had to make sure they were good! So if you find them hard, don't blame me! Blame my former colleague or your fellow students who are throwing off the grading curve!"

Because, obviously, she was blameless! And, to further cushion her exempt status, she added, "I'll also be taking the quiz myself, so it's fair all around! Ganbatte ne, minasan! Kimi nara dekiru yo!"

As Yukari is explaining the pop quiz and handing them out, it's a good chance to ask any questions you might have before taking it!

The test is, of course, completely moddable, though a lot of it probably had a lot of multiple choice of "What is the best phrase to use in this situation?" with both kanji and the more phonetic romaji version listed. Some vocabulary matching, little 'fill in the speech bubble' diagrams, and one written 'Bonus Points' question at the very end that was clearly written in by Yukari herself that asks "What are some good Japanese words and phrases to describe your teacher?"

And as promised, Yukari herself will be taking the test as a sign of solidarity, but it doesn't take very long for her to appear frustrated, confused, and maybe a little bit angry. But, at some point, when looking out across the class, she writes a little more, pushes back her chair, and pushes her test away as if finished, before getting up to walk around the classroom and the desks to 'check and see how everyone is doing', as a good teacher should be expected to do!

Definitely just seeing if anyone needs help or is struggling!

Absolutely not trying to look at everyone else's answers to help her with her own!

Steve was enjoying taking the quiz because Steve was broken inside and liked being tested on what he knew.

Watts’s answers were… mostly correct, though good luck deciphering anything that involved him actually having to write, as his handwriting remained atrocious no matter what language he used.

Belle was not the sort of student who minded a pop quiz.

Some of it was difficult, of course, but that just meant she needed to study the language more!
