Dangershop: Playground

After being almost being ~~handwavy~~ stampeded by a few miniture students, it didn't take long for Mac to figure out what might have happened overnight.

Being the resourceful guy he is? He headed down to the Dangershop where he spent a few minutes programming it for a more suitable environment for the kids.

He also made sure that the safety locks were on and could not be unlocked.

[ooc: OCD Threads ~~coming~~ up! Safety locks will prevent any harm to the students, though skinned knees and boo-boos can happen. Feel free to add your own playground equipment.]

"Sure!" Veronica said, racing to the swing set and claiming a swing.

She tried pumping her legs to make herself go, but her wee legs weren't quite strong enough to get her started.

So she sat there and pouted.

Archie stuck his lower lip out and frowned mightily. Where was the fun in swinging if you couldn't get going?

He set his boat down carefully to one side and hoped nobody would step on it, then put his little fists on his hips and announced importantly, "It's all right. I'll push you!"

Veronica beamed at Archie.

"Thanks, Archie," she said. "I told Piper and Chloe you weren't an icky boy."

Archie beamed back as he took hold of the swing chains in both hands and pulled back just a little bit before giving Veronica a push.

"I'm not icky," he said proudly. "I showered this morning! It was hard to reach the knobs, though."

Veronica's smile grew even bigger as she started swinging.

"I know! Everything 'round here is made for big people. It's not fair."

"Big people are no fun," Archie agreed as he pushed the swing again, just so it went a little higher. "They're boring."

"Uh huh," Veronica agreed, before letting out a little squeal as she swung higher. "I'm glad I'm not a big person yet."

"I'm gonna be a big person someday," Archie declared. "But I might have my own ship before I get that big! I'm already a loo-tennnt," he said, indicating his uniform coat.

"Wow," Veronica said, properly impressed. "Your coat has shiny buttons. Do you still get to wear it if you have your own ship?"

Archie shook his head. "I get a fancier one, with more shiny buttons! And an epau . . . epp . . . thing on my shoulder that shows I'm a captain. Making sure the buttons stay shiny is hard though," he added, pouting.

"How do you make them stay shiny?" Veronica asked.

"You have to polish them all," Archie said, wrinkling his nose. "Lots an' lots of polishing. It takes a loooooooooong time and it''s not very fun, and it makes my fingers hurt."

"But," he added, "shiny!"

"I like your shiny buttons," Veronica told him. "They're pretty. I won't get to wear shiny buttons when I get big, but I might get to wear 'squises sometimes. I'm gonna be a private 'vestigator like my daddy."

"Really?" asked Archie, his mouth open and his eyes round. "That must be exciting. And dangerous. You're not 'fraid?"

Veronica shook her head. "Nope. I got a taser and a pit bull and my daddy makes sure I stay safe," she said.

"Ooooooooh," Archie said, nodding. "Your daddy sounds nice. I like him."

"My daddy is the best," Veronica agreed. "You should come to Neptune with me some time. He'd like you. 'Specially if you wore your shiny buttons."

"That's far away from here. I like going to far away places! That's what sailors do." Archie nodded importantly. "I went as far as Jamaica, once!"

"Jamaica?" Veronica asked, eyes wide. "That isfar. But you can't sail to California. You have to go in a plane."

"I've never been in a plane!" Archie replied, swinging his arms from side to side. In a conspiratorial whisper he added, "I think I might be scared."

Veronica gave him a reassuring smile. "It's not scary to fly in a plane," she said. "I could hold your hand if you were scared though," she offered.

Archie blushed and forgot to give Veronica's swing a push the next time it came back toward him. "That would be nice of you," he said.

Since the swing slowed down, Veronica jumped off. "Let's find something else to do," she said. "I don't wanna swing no more."
