Students today arrived to a wealth of treats and beverages laid out along one side of the classroom. "Welcome to the end of the semester," Ghanima said cheerfully, as she bounced Trebor in her arms. "Hopefully, you're walking away with information that you didn't have at our first meeting."

"As promised, today is the day you tell me about an assassination that has captured your attention. It can be something from this world, your world, a movie you want to pick apart... it does not matter if we've already covered the event. I'm interested to hear you put what you've learned to use, when thinking about assassination, its history, and its cultural impact."

She then took a seat on one of the pillows with everyone else, setting Trebor in her lap and gesturing for someone else to stand. "Now, it's your turn to teach, and mine to learn."

True to her word, Ghanima is looking at you expectantly, her blue-on-blue eyes unblinking.

Now it's your turn! Talk about an assassination that interests you as detailed or handwave-y as you like! There are no wrong answers here...

Unless your answer is that assassination is clearly always wrong, in which case, Ghanima will silently judge you for lying to her son.

When it was her turn, Arden rambled about an assassination that had happened in Raleigh not long after its founding wherein two rival families sought for power and control over the city. There were some definite weird holes in the story, where Arden couldn't figure out a way to explain 'because vampires are territorial assholes and there can only be one Master of a city' in normal person words, but she was hoping that it just came across as nerves and an incomplete understanding of the history.

It helped that she was also nervous and didn't have a full understanding of the history.

"Reminds me slightly of Romulus and Remus quarreling over how to build Rome, or the Pazzi conspiracy," Ghanima offered once Arden had finished. "Strong personalities that cannot bend, often break -- either themselves or each other. Or both."

"Yeah," Arden said. "Uh, it basically led to a, um, turf war, between the established, er, family and the new folks. At the end of it, the whole original family had been wiped out and the new one established. They're still here, though there've been plenty of folks that tried to challenge their dominance. They just failed."

"If you're interested in mafia-esque turf wars and their fallout, you may want to look into the Castellammarese War," Ghanima suggested. "It certainly set the tone for American mafia power dynamics and assassinations this century."

"Huh," Arden said, immediately thinking how that could be useful for Otherside politics. "Yeah, I think I will. Thank you for the suggestion, Ms. Ghanima."
