"Hey, guys." Prompto smiled apologetically from where he was sitting on the desk at the front of the classroom, and he gave a little bit of a sigh. "Class has definitely been a little iffy these past few weeks, huh, between me having a little tiny person at home and general Fandomness. Sorry about that. Hopefully, the last few weeks of class will be a little less disjointed, and I was thinking of just having the remaining lessons be about maybe a few famous photographers and things like that, but I realized we hadn't had the chance to cover photojournalism yet, and that's kind of a big one, so we'll definitely cover that one today.

"But first!" he grinned a little less apologetically now, as he hopped off the desk and made his way to the projector, "I'm sure you've been collecting plenty of pictures to show off in the meantime. It doesn't even need to be about our last topic--honestly, I can't even remember what the last thing we talked about was, it's been kind of rough--but just some work that you've done these past few weeks that you're proud of, and then we'll get into it."

Like it's been a while!

No matter what the topic, now's your chance to show off any cool shots you may have taken since the last class! Or just show off your Thanksgiving photos and make everyone hungry all over again, just when the leftovers are probably starting to run out...

"Okay, great work in there, guys!" Prompto said, with a nod at the last photo and a pleased grin. "Now, let's get into photojournalism. You know the whole phrase, 'a picture is worth a thousand words'? That's sort of the crux of photojournalism, telling a story...usually an important and impactful one...with your photography! Usually, this is going to be something involving current news or hot topics, or issues that could use a little more light shed on them. It's a pretty common career for photographers, and kind of an important one. A photojournalist is the one who's recording all the current news for posterity, so that future generations have a visual reference for historical events or even just pieces of interest and biography, things like that. And the key thing to being a good photojournalist is trying to be impartial and honest: let the picture speak for itself, without any bias or influence, which is a lot harder than it sounds! But a good photojournalist will be able to capture images that inspire, inform,, and highlight important events or situations, maybe in ways that people may not have ever seen before."

With that, Prompto took a few more moments to talk about photojournalism as a whole and good tips and practices in that field, before delving into some examples. Sorry, guys. Since it was a pretty intense topic sometimes, this class was definitely going to be pretty lecture and example heavy, so at least there was no denial that Prompto was definitely back in full teaching form!

There's not really a whole lot to practice, as far as shots go, in the classroom, but it would be a good time to maybe bounce ideas for stories and pictures off your classmates or who knows? Maybe there's something inspirational there, too! What's a good topic to explore for a photojournalism angle for next week? What hot topics around the island could be worth delving into with the power of photography?

Or maybe there's a photojournalist whose work you really admire? Bring them up, Prompto will google a few things, and everyone else can be inspired, too!
