Prompto was feeling pretty glad that he'd kind of managed to pull himself together in time for his class; it was definitely going to require a lot of work to try and project that usual bubbly self for this students, but you know what? That was what he did, he'd been doing it for a long time, he could definitely do it here, too! So it was with a bounce and a clap of his hands as sort of a way to pump himself up that he got ready to get things started.

"Okay!" he said. "Hey, everyone!" All three of you, but he was used to his classes being a bit small. Which was great! That meant more time to work on and talk about pictures. "And welcome to Photography 101! And, really, the class is pretty much what it says on the tin: we're going to be learning about all sorts of ins and outs of photography, different techniques, different styles, a little of the history, a little bit about ways to take it beyond just a hobby, all sorts of good stuff like that. I've been into photography since I was a kid, and very recently have been starting to turn it into a career, both with freelance work, a lot of stock photography shots, and running the Photo Hut here in town with my wife, Liz. So if you've got any questions about photography, cameras, and all the good equipment and technical stuff, I'm definitely your guy.

"But, of course, today's the first week, so we're keeping up the great Fandom tradition and focusing on introductions! Both of you guys so we can get to know each other and I can get a good idea of your experience with photography so far, and also with these cameras," he gestured toward the models sitting behind him on the desk, "for you guys to have during the semester for your pictures, courtesy, of course, of the Photo Hut. If you already have a camera of your own you prefer to use, that's great, you're definitely welcome to do that, but if you do want another one to have some fun with or get to know more about, they're here for you. And, if for whatever reason it doesn't work, just swing by the shop, and me or Liz can hook you up with something more suited to your needs.

"But enough about that," Prompto concluded, "let's get to you guys! Take some time to introduce yourself. Let us know your name, maybe your experience or interest in photography, or anything else you might want to share, and when we're finished, I'll go over the cameras in more detail, and if you have any questions then, you can ask them. Since there's only a few of us, too, this shouldn't take too long at all! Any volunteers to go first?"

It's that time of year! Time to go around and let everyone in the class know who you are, why you're here, your experience in photography, and anything else you might like to share!

Cutter had not expected to end up in any classes this semester and had been rather surprised to find that he’d been enrolled in photography, which he suspected meant either Becker or Lester had signed him up for it but he didn’t really mind.

“I’m Professor Nick Cutter,” Cutter began, “I’ve done photography when I’ve gone on digs but recently I had to do a scrapbook as part of … um it was an assignment, I rather enjoyed taking photos for it,” he finished rather awkwardly , “I’m guessing one of my bosses back home thought this class would be good for me,” he admitted.

"Well," said Prompto, with a little bit of a chuckle, "if your bosses are going to make you take a class, I'd say you got a pretty good one, but I'm pretty biased on that front. Photographs can be a great way of collecting and preserving data and evidence for research, though! I'll definitely keep that in mind with the lessons, things like lighting and angles'll probably really help with that sort of thing, and digital photography, too."

Connor was surprised he had been signed up for the class but when he was Cutter was there as well he had a pretty good idea who was behind it.

"Hey. I'm Connor Temple. I've always kinda had a passing interest in photography. Never done anything serious with it and this is the first class I have had for photography as well, but I am looking forward to it."

"Ahhh," said Prompto with a grin, "so a true newbie, huh? Well, nothing wrong with that! And a class like this is designed to help you find out if you want to take that passing interest into something a bit more. And casual photography is great, too, and then your friends'll just all be really impressed by how all your candid look so dang great!"

"Hi, I'm Gonzo!" Gonzo greeted, waving to the other three. "I was a staff photographer for the Daily Chronicle back in the early 80s, but I'm sure photography has changed loads since then. For one thing, the flashes are tiny now!"

He held up his old camera for comparison. It had what amounted to nearly a full sized light bulb mounted on top of it inside a big reflector.

"Say gorgonzola, everyone!"

Anyone who was looking at said camera was likely to be momentarily blinded by that flash. Which was wholly unnecessary in the already perfectly bright room.

Prompto? Definitely one of those people blinded by that flash, because he was actually considerably more fascinated by that camera than Gonzo himself, really, which said a lot about that camera, and meant he was looking at it directly.

"Oh, man," he said, after a moment to recover but still blinking stars and white spots from his vision, "I haven't dealt with a flash like that in a while! That...well...that's...effective, alright! And that camera is a beaut! I'd love to have a look at it, Gonzo, if you don't mind."

A beat.

"After class, maybe."

Another.

"When I can actually see again."

"Sure!" Gonzo said, unbothered. (Prompto's reaction was pretty standard, really.) "I'd love to show this baby off!"
