Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, Saturday, All Day

If anyone in Fandom could control the weather, they weren't doing a particularly good job with it today. It was quite hot and sticky outside, so the lawn was filled with as many pop-up tents as could be acquired to provide some well-needed shade. There were plenty of cool drinks and moddable food that would hopefully survive the heat--it might not have felt like summer would be ending any time soon, but it was time to celebrate the coming fall nonetheless!

Lana smiled and came to join her for a while. "You look exceptionally happy today."

Nell laughed. "I am exceptionally happy these days," she admitted. "How are you doing?"

"I'm doing well. Looking forward to teaching, and the weather is lovely. How are the bees?"

[mylandmyrules]

"The bees are wonderful," Nell said. "And maybe it's a Fandom thing, but they've made so much honey already that I was able to harvest a little - and it's delicious!'

"Oh, wonderful!" Lana said. "Do you plan on selling it in your store? I would love to have some, and compensate them for their work, naturally."

"I won't really have enough to sell till next summer, but I have enough that I can share some with you," Nell said with a smile.

"I won't say no," Lana said, grinning. "I can pay the bees back in interesting flowers from other worlds, if you like. Unless you're controlling which types of blossoms they use."

Look, she was well aware Nell would insist she didn't have to be paid, but surely the bees deserved recompense?

"Oh, that would be interesting," Nell said. "I'm sure the bees would like that!"

Nice job, Lana! Handy way to get around Nell not wanting to take money for the honey!

"I'll see what I can find," Lana promised. "I'll have to check to make sure it won't be toxic."

She made that mental note, then moved on. "What about everything else? I'm sorry I haven't made it to yours recently."

"Yes, please," Nell said. "Nothing toxic to humans or bees."

Ad then nshe blushed. "Well, Gladio and I have been spending a lot of time together."

Lana grinned. "Well, I was assuming that part." Her smile softened. "Still going well, then?"

Nell nodded, still blushing a bit. "Very well. More than very well. You know I never really believed this sort of thing was really real, but I've been proved wrong."

"And happy to have been proved wrong?" Lana asked.

[mylandmyrules]

Her smile started and just grew till she was just beaming and blushing. "I am," she said softly. "I feel very blessed."

"I'm so glad." Lana was smiling right back. "You deserve to be happy. And yes, I'm well aware people rarely get what they deserve, but we can always hope."

"I'm not sure I've done anything to deserve someone like Gladio," Nell said seroiusly, "But I'm awful glad he's in my life."

"You," Lana said firmly, "are helpful and giving, loyal beyond a fault, strong, and a joy to be around. You've been through a lot in your life, and it's good to see you able to enjoy it now."

[mylandmyrules]

"Aw, Lana..." Nell reached out to hug her friend if she allowed it. "You're so kind. Thank you."

Lana would absolutely allow it, and even hug back. "Nonsense. I'm Sith; we don't do kind. I'm just right." She chuckled. "It really is good to see you happy."

Nell laughed. "Then I think you're doing Sith wrong," she teased. "And it's nice to feel so happy."

Lana laughed outright. "You wouldn't be the only one to say that, but I think I'm doing just fine. I'd better be; I'm teaching about it. Are you taking any classes this time around?"

Nell blushed again. "Physical education with Gladio."

"Oh, good, a little exercise never hurt anyone," Lana teased, as if that was the only reason she was taking it.

Nell nodded seriously. "I am quite sedentary," she agreed. "It's about time I try to get myself moving."

"Generally the saying is 'if you stay still too long, you'll put down roots', but you might actually have to watch for that," Lana noted.
