Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, Saturday, All Day

If anyone in Fandom could control the weather, they weren't doing a particularly good job with it today. It was quite hot and sticky outside, so the lawn was filled with as many pop-up tents as could be acquired to provide some well-needed shade. There were plenty of cool drinks and moddable food that would hopefully survive the heat--it might not have felt like summer would be ending any time soon, but it was time to celebrate the coming fall nonetheless!

Hey, fruit was good for you and delicious! Why not a plateful of it? (Before moving on to a plateful of pasta salad and whatnot, of course. Raiden had room for many plates.)

"Jane!" Raiden said, setting down the spoon to wave back at her. "Hi! How's it goin'?"

"Good, keeping an eye out for who I'm supposed to be mentoring," she said, mostly wondering about how those plates were managing to hold up their structural integrity. "How about you?"

Maybe it was a secret Gluttony power. Raiden didn't ask himself these questions. "I thought the kids mentored the kids?" Raiden asked. "Or is it to do with that new college thing?" He guessed high schoolers shouldn't be mentoring college kids, from what he vaguely understood of the whole business.

"Oh, I'm great! Got some snacks here!" he said, indicating his plates, which held...a lot of snacks.

"I think they changed it with the whole... Fandom University thing, yeah." She was not saying FU. Not without wincing.

"Yeah, I didn't really...pay attention to any of that," Raiden admitted. "As long as Smalls still gets to do his high school thing it's all good for me." Even if he didn't understand why Gray wanted to do the high school thing.

"He seems... happy." Sleeping. He was sleeping, Jane.

"Sloth got him again," Raiden said, like it didn't happen multiple times a day, every day. "I'll have to let him know he didn't miss anything big when he wakes up...at least I hope he doesn't miss anything big." This was Fandom; you never knew what could happen before Gray finished his nap.

"Well, it seems like a perfectly normal day so far," Jane said hopefully. Because clearly that would keep it as such, right?

"Are we jinxing it?" Raiden realized. "Ohhh, we're probably jinxing it, aren't we?" He looked around nervously for the rain of something.

"No! No." Well. "No? Maybe if we knock on some wood?"

Raiden looked around for some wood to knock on and then couldn't decide, "Uhhhh tree or picnic table?" You pick, Jane.

"You get the table, I'll get the tree."

To be safe.

"Deal," Raiden agreed, and set down a plate to knock on the picnic table. Just in case. "Whew, crisis averted." Raiden, no. That was how you asked the crisis to come back.

"We're safe," Jane agreed, jogging back to meet him after knocking on a tree.

Those poor squirrels in that tree.

"So are you teaching anything fun this semester? I felt like I should get back to what I'm good at, y'know?" Weird pizzas wouldn't make themselves.

"Ass Kicking," Jane said, putting her fists up playfully. "Which is very much Cara's wheelhouse, but I like to think I'm getting there."

"Well, you've got the hammer," Raiden pointed out. "Very good for the ass kicking." It had definitely put a dent in him, and that was not easy.

"I'm hoping to pick up some tips in the class too," she admitted. "Are you teaching again too?"
