Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, Saturday, All Day

If anyone in Fandom could control the weather, they weren't doing a particularly good job with it today. It was quite hot and sticky outside, so the lawn was filled with as many pop-up tents as could be acquired to provide some well-needed shade. There were plenty of cool drinks and moddable food that would hopefully survive the heat--it might not have felt like summer would be ending any time soon, but it was time to celebrate the coming fall nonetheless!

Graham and Triumph loved a good picnic, so of course, both of them were there, spending about half their time just riding around the park, ready and eager to greet people and maybe spot out some new faces, and the other half over by the food tables, piling up plates and maybe occasionally slipping a few things into the pockets of Graham's cloak to save for later. Next year was going to be the Tournament of Knights, after all, so they were really in crunch time for really getting those gains and bulking up for their potential knighthood, so they'd need a lot of energy and fuel to get into fighting form!

"Hello, my fair knight and his trusty steed Triumph!" Charlie exclaimed. "It's good to see you both."

"Not as good as it is to see you, Charlie!" Graham countered, with a big grin and a swing of his finger, and Triumph, ever the excellent wingman, let out a few agreeing chirps and squeaks to confirm. "Are you having a nice welcoming time here at this welcome picnic?"

"I am," Charlie said. "And I'm having some wonderfully welcoming food as well!"

"Anything in particular you'd recommend?" Graham asked. "Triumph and I have pretty much done a pretty thorough scan and taste-testing of almost the entire table, especially the pies, obviously, but there might have been something we missed!"

Oh, there totally wasn't.

"Oh! And what classes are you taking this semester? I hope we have more of them together again; classes are always more fun when we're in them together, I feel!"

"I'm loving the nachos," Charlie said. "And the chocolate frosted brownies? Amazing!"

"Classes together are definitely more fun," she agreed. "Let's see, I'm taking the Practical Folklore one, Try Not to Die, The Mulitverse is F'd, and The Weird States of America. You?"

"I like the little light cheesy ball things that make your fingers," Graham held up a hand, to show off the cheese dust that he still hadn't be able to get rid of entirely, "all orange! And oooh! We've got the Weird States one together, but....that's it." There was a little frown there, a disappointed slack to his shoulders. "My other ones are Archeology, Ass-Kicking, and Phys Ed. I wanted to take all those other ones you have, but I guess they figured the ones I had were enough."

Because if they let Graham take every class he wanted to take...then he'd be taking every single class, and there was no way the Powers that Be were going to let him do that to herself him.

"Guess we'll just have to spend more time together outside of classes," Charlie said easily. 'I'm sure we can find lots of trouble to get into.'

"Oh, noooooo," said Graham, overexaggerated and not at all convincing thanks to the grin on his face, although he did put his hands to each side in a facsimile of how devastating this news clearly was, "more time together? Outside of class??"

And then he heaved a big sigh, dropping his arms and his shoulders with a rueful shake of his head. "Well," he said, "I suppose we'll have no choice. It'll be tough, but I'm sure we can manage to make it through, Charlie."

"I appreciate your willingness to suffer for our friendship," Charlie said over-seriously. "It's an ugly job, but someone has to do it."

"Well," said Graham, lifting his chin and squaring his shoulders with renewed confidence and resolve; he even curled up a fist to settle against his chest, "I am going to be a knight someday, and a knight must be brave and determined and willing to go through any lengths to do what's right, especially in the name of friendship!"

"I... am never going to be a knight," Charlie admitted. "But I will have to support you in your endeavors. Friendship is all important after all."
