Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, Saturday, All Day

If anyone in Fandom could control the weather, they weren't doing a particularly good job with it today. It was quite hot and sticky outside, so the lawn was filled with as many pop-up tents as could be acquired to provide some well-needed shade. There were plenty of cool drinks and moddable food that would hopefully survive the heat--it might not have felt like summer would be ending any time soon, but it was time to celebrate the coming fall nonetheless!

[Flying OCD-free! Have at it and stay cool!]

Jo had mostly lay low the last couple of weeks after everything had happened, she was starting to feel better about everything and she was looking forward to the picnic and the start of the new semester.

"Jo." Jon was a little nervous around her, but at least she hadn't been exactly there when he was going all Fear avatar. And he did worry about her. "Hello. I hope you're doing well."

"Hello Mr. Sims," Jo said, a little nervous herself because of how she had been during the whole rescue, not that she remembered much of it, "I'm doing better than I was," she told him and paused, "um...thank you, again for rescuing me from the house," she said shyly.

"Oh, it's. Um. I'm just happy I could help. I'm glad you're doing better, too. And that you chose to return."

He wouldn't have blamed her if she'd decided the 50s were less traumatizing than Fandom.

Jo had been very tempted for a while, ā€œI’m glad I chose to return too, hopefully nothing like that happens again,ā€ she added.

"Hopefully not," Jon agreed fervently. "I hope your family is well."

Jo nodded, "they've been well thank you, I don't think they've realised anything has happened since it usually takes a while for letters to arrive, even though I don't think they'd believe me even if I told them what happened," she admitted.

"That's unfortunately true for a lot of the students here, I think." Jon hesitated. "But, um. Look, I can't pretend I'm necessarily a good listener, but, um. Ah, no, wait; that'd be too close to a statement. So perhaps I'm exactly the wrong person to talk to. But if you ever want to get a cuppa and pretend everything's all right and bitch about rationing or dealing with Americans or something, I'm a good person for that, I suppose."

Look, he was trying!

Jo gave a small smile at that, "I would like that," she said, "that does sound rather lovely thank you,"

Jon gave a hopefully-not-too-noticeable sigh of relief. "You're welcome. And I hope you enjoy your courses this term."
