"For our final class," said Summer, with a little bit of a mewling frown because weren't you all so sad? This was the last class! And surely there would be no other opportunities to have Summer inflict weird, weird recipes on you ever again after this. Heartbreaking!, "I decided we'd have a look at the allegedly most important meal of the day: breakfast."

Stark was a little sad it was the last class, actually. Maybe more than a little. He liked having classes with Summer. “I do like breakfast,” he said, foolishly hopeful. He’d very much enjoyed breakfast last Sunday.

"Starting with tuna waffles. They are exactly what they sound like, and a good way to transition into assuring you that at least the banana scallops do not actually involve scallops, but they do involve bananas."

“The waffles have fish but the bananas don’t, this time?” Stark checked. He just wanted to be sure. Had he just inspired tuna and banana waffles to appear at a later time? Maybe. “Wouldn’t it be better to have no fish for breakfast?”

"Come on," said Summer brightly," we live on an island! On the Atlantic coast! Fish should be featuring in all our meals more prominently, really. Sustainability, and all that good stuff!”

“I don’t think you even believe that,” Stark told her. “I don’t think you really want fish in desserts. Not to eat.”

Summer just smiled at him sweetly, offering no comment or opinion, only moving on to the last offering. "And, finally, we have an…interesting twist on the classic Eggs Benedict by making it….with cream of chicken soup, because why not?"

“Because that’s not what that sauce ought to be made of at all?” Stark suggested. Not that he really knew much about hollandaise. Maybe they ought to do brunch some weekend. For educational purposes.

"It's usually eggs yolks, butter, and lemon!" she offered, helpfully, because this was a class where you were to learn things. "So definitely not! Although whether or not this is an improvement is something we can discuss once we all give it a try."

Look, sorry, everyone else, but Summer just found foisting terrible food on people very cathartic and good for the soul, alright?

Her soul, at least, for suuuuuure.

Stark, meanwhile, was just enjoying this return to what passed for normalcy here. Summer threatening people with horrible things was good. It felt right.

Forgive the dopey grin he was giving her occasionally.

"Hey," said Summer, returning that grin once everyone was sort of settled into their disgusting food creation, "I found this really bonkers recipe I'm thinking of making tomorrow, if you want to try it. I can make those brownies again, too, if you'd like."

She didn't think she needed to specify which brownies she meant, wink wink.

"Should I be afraid of this recipe?" Stark asked. "Or excited?" Probably both.

"I did like your brownies," he said, grinning wider. "Very much. And they'll help, I think, with..."

With his sleep issues which he knew were wearing on both of them.

Summer's expression went soft and sympathetic as Stark trailed off, with a gentle smile and a knowing nod to let him know that he really didn't need to complete that sentiment.

"I think so, too," she said, especially since it seemed to help Wednesday night, too, although that had, honestly, been more for her than anything else.

"And both," she added, shameless now, and confident. "Definitely both."

"Both is...both is what I would expect." Stark nodded.

"And you help, you know, just by yourself. Being there. Thank you."

"Don't even mention it," Summer said, waving her hand dismissively, because, really, don't. Not too much anyway because sincerity made her feel awkward. "I'm just glad I can help."

Stark was trying to keep his sincerity to a minimum, at least in public.

"You do. And brownies will help more. But...I'm not sure whatever else you're making will."

The grin was back now. "It might be gross."

"It might be," Summer allowed, her grin pulling up a little more on one side as well. "Maybe not taco jello shot gross, though. Maybe worse than taco jello shot gross. Guess you'll just have to wait and see. It will, however, definitely be...an experience."

Summer Smith needed to be banned from FoodTok.

"An experience?" Stark repeated. "It always is, with you. But I like that."

The second 'with you' was going to be left unsaid. For now.

"But I hope it isn't worse than the taco shot. Unless I get rewarded for trying it."

"I promise," said Summer, hand over her heart and everything to show just how sincere she was and how deeply she meant it, "I will make it worth your while."

"You always do," Stark said. "I'm looking forward to it."
