The Art of Laziness; Tuesday, Second Period [08/08].
Today was the eighth day of the eighth month and, as the Captain of the Eighth Division of the Gotei 13, Shunsui had some big plans for tonight, but, at the moment, he did have class. Of course, this big plans did have his attention rather elsewhere, but that was fine, as it was, nicely, a class whose entire purpose facilitated him being lazy when it came to his lesson plans. That was rather the whole point. So it would all work out quite well, wouldn't it?
So he still had his circle under the tree by the duck pond, with a pot of tea ready to go for the students, and he took a little extra time just enjoying the morning before giving a contented smile and getting things going.
"Today," he said, "we have two lessons wrapped conveniently into one, which is, of course, another excellent example of laziness working for you. By combining things, you can get twice as much done without any additional effort ♥. I'd like to talk about a few quotes about laziness today, and what you might make of them...not only will you potentially hear some words of wisdom to aid you in your understanding of laziness, but not going to the trouble of coming up with your own words for something and instead leaning on the words of those who came before you and were probably much wiser and poetic about it saves you a good deal of work, neh ♥? So before you are a few printout of a few quotes to read over and share your thoughts on; simple as that ♥! Let's begin."

There are, of course, eight of them:
"Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired."-Jules Renard
"I don't think necessity is the mother of invention. Invention, in my opinion, arises directly from idleness, possibly also from laziness - to save oneself trouble." -Agatha Christie
"The reason laziness is rarely pushed as a lifestyle option is down to one simple reason: money. There are fortunes to be made out of active lifestyles. Gyms charge fees. But no one is going to make money out of sleep. It is free."-Tom Hodgkinson
"When the going gets tough, the tough take a nap."-Tom Hodgkinson
"Progress isn't made by early risers. It's made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something.-Robert Heinlein
"Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability"-Sam Keen
"He who knows how to loaf is wiser than three sages."-Abraham Miller
"Laziness, according to the modern view, is like an illness or something we need to be coached out of. Instead ... the reverse is true -- it is something senior executives need to be coached into. Just to be clear: the sort of laziness to encourage is not the slobbish variety that means you do bad work. That is not laziness: it is stupidity. Instead, we need the clever version that comes from knowing there is an opportunity cost to every minute we spend working, so we use our time wisely.-Lucy Kellaway
