The Care & Appreciation of Animals!; Monday, Third Period [07/31].

There would certainly be no doubt about which animals the class would be talking about today, as, cheerful and boisterous as ever, Sidon led the way over to the section of the shelter with all the various cages and enclosures that featured the plethora of birds, many of them trilling and chirping and ruffling their feathers as they approached.

"If you haven't guessed it by now, my eager animal caretakers and appreciators," he said, "today is for the birds! As you can see, Furnado Animal Shelter is home to a wide variety of feathered friends, and that's what we'll be discussing today! Now, obviously, a bird as a pet would require a great deal of special considerations that other, more mammalian or reptilian creatures might not need, as well as some that might start seeming rather familiar. So, naturally, we will go over important information to keep in mind when keeping a bird, and then we'll get to know some of the birds themselves! Let's get into it!"

As usual, Sidon's lecture about caring for and appreciating birds, especially as pets, is loaded with both information and enthusiasm, as well as really interesting facts about birds, and hopefully everything else you'd need to know, and, if not, well, that's what questions (and maybe the vet!) can help with!

And now it's time to get to know the birds firsthand! Take some time to feed the bird, or maybe help by giving a bird a bath! A lot of birds like to chat back, so you can try your hand at communicating with them directly, and many birds are big fans of engaging playtime, and they're very adept with tricks and games, and even sick skateboard moves!, so there are plenty of things to do with the birds, as well!

Libby figured it couldn't be more difficult to bathe a bird than it was a bunch of rowdy Littles, so she was definitely setting out to engage some birds in some smart play and games and then, when they were finished with that, clean up time! All the while trying to teach them to say things and maybe whistle some songs.

Once she found one that seemed receptive to whistling back tunes, her new goal was to teach it whistle 'Ziggy Stardust' so she could record it and send it to Zo.
